  1. :D  How's the amp/cab holding up?

I use them all the time.No problems yet.I get alot of compliments on the sound.

You got a great memory :D

Bloody hell, I suprised even myself then. A bit too much B) has made me a bit...errr...err...err...forgetful B) .

Actually, I was inspired that blue axe you did (hollow with F hole), hollowed out a cheap strat and put 2 F holes in. Blue Hammerite doesn't give nearly as good a finish as the car (Impreza) blue that you used though :D

  2. First off, let me say that I am no way sure about this so wait for one of the experts to either confirm or just blow this out of the water. :D

Do the size of the pup cavities actually matter (well ignoring the more wood the better rule)? Thinking about it, I would say that as it has a pickguard, this will cover the holes. I also figure that on a tele (never having played one I dont know) the pup adjustment screws go through to pick guard only (i.e. not attached to the body wood).

I wouldn't get rid of the bosy, at the end of the day, if it's really bad you could Bocaster it like idch did :D

  3. B) Cool. Shinnier than the arse of a policemans trousers :D

Spider and cobweb aren't my style, but they still look fantastic. Each to their own I suppose. From your post, it sounds like you're happy with it. I'd be over the moon.

Now GET BACK TO WORK! :D

What finish is it by the way?

  4. Thanks kaj !  And to think you were the one who sent me the CADs !  :D

Yeah but it's got bolt on P90's on my drawing :D

40 isn't classed as old anymore, it just means that you haven't got long until the kids leave and you can have fun again :D <---- When I left my folks made me chop up my bed.....

..... but it might have had something to do with someone barfing on it at my leaving party B)

  5. 1. All 4 but "c" is probably more important as I'm tight :D

    2. 1,3,2,2

    3. b - I'm sick of places that pretty much only Fender & Gibson (and knock of versions)

    4. Not a lot (unless there are scantily clad women on it)

    5. a - I don't play anything else so it's not important to me personally. I do like it when they do sell other stuff though, gives you something to look at.

    6. Like - Good prices, friendly, don't mind if you're just looking and not going to buy anthing

Dislike - Sometimes smells a bit like piss

    7. Pushy salesmen, especially when they don't have a clue. Having to ask before getting a guitar down. Ed Roman :D <--- j/k never been there

    8. Either, but I'd go to a shop to have a play on it first.

  6. I'll listen to absolutely everything (and you'll find everything in my CD's).

At the minute though I'm getting well into The Scratch Perverts (3 blokes, 6 decks and 3 mixers), just bought the JET album which isn't too bad and Tom Waits always goes down well when I'm drunk.

Everyone should make it their priority to expand their music tastes. I hear so many people saying "I don't like rap" or "I don't like heavy metal". Christ, they should try listening to some of the Morrocan claranet music I've got, nearly everyone says "That's crap" but I like it, so sod them.

    Kaj :D

  7. 1. Limited experience, but prefer Gibsons

    2. Yes

    3. A cheapass Vantage that I've cut up and chopped about (but started life as a proper guitar)

    4. Musical Exchanges, Birmingham UK

    5. Gibson ES355 - Lucille

    6. Yup

    7. Dunno, it's crap and I'm going to build a new one

    8. 10ish

    9. Well, I've owned one for about 10 years but I practiced for about 2, then life took over and I've hardly picked it up since

    10. 2

So you're a girl then, wanna come round and play with my tools :D

    Kaj :D

  8. Well, my mate usually builds resonators but has been doing a bit of a storming line in electrics recently (he just sold a Les Paul that he made for over £1k and it was gorgeous).

I should be seeing him this week some time so I'll ask him if he's interested (due to magazine reviews being good I think he's busy at the moment). How much are you looking at spending?

If you want to look at his work, go to www.deltaresonatorguitars.co.uk it's only got his resonators on there though. You can also see a review of his work in Februarys Guitaist magazine.

He's based in the same village as me, not too far from Brum but nearer Leicester. Just look for Junction 2 of the M69. It's only about 25 minutes from the NEC.

    Kaj :D

  9. Yeah, I'm in the UK.

I'll have to have a search around for the stuff, I'm sure that I can get it somewhere.

The bloke who is doing the spraying is quite good at it, he's been hitting it with a thinner heavy mix to try and slow down the drying process but no luck yet.

The cobwebs weren't achieved during the experiments, infact it was someone else who showed me, roll on helloween and I'll cobweb the outside of my house :D

  10. Alright guys, some of you may remember the thread about the finish on old National guitars. It's the finish with the crystals that grow in the laquer.

Well, I've found the right stuff to form the crystals and my mate has been experimenting with it. The problem that we have is that the crystals aren't having time to form. We've tried just thinning the (cellulose) laquer down but it's far from perfect. He's also been trying various meths, solvents, etc, etc.

Do any of you finishing gurus know of a suitable retarder for cellulose? If possible I could do with some suggestions before I go home for the weekend (in about 2 hours).

Cheers guys and as a reward, I'll tell you that if you dont thin down laquer (the car type) and turn the pressure up to full blast, you get cobwebs comming out. Dunno if it's safe but it made me laugh :D

  11. Not only do I know it's your birthday, I also know that you're 32 B)

A good guitar might not always be a good guitar, but I've never seen anything but good guitars comming from your direction.

I know looking at your guitars that you have the extra 1% that I haven't got. It's the difference between a good guitar and a great guitar. Hell, I'll be your first customer :D

    Kaj :D

  12. I also use filters as well- Do you guys?

    No - I'm hard B)

No bits of tobacco in your mouth either! (I used to hate that!!!!!!!!!!!!)

    Luke

You should learn how to roll properly then :D

EDIT - mmm, something seems a little odd with this post.

  13. I smoke quite a bit of Drum brought in from Europe. I don't like to pay UK prices. It's Burley(sp?) tobacco though and I prefer the smoother virginia tobacco.

Rollies are definately better than ciggies. But they do make you feel like a bit of tramp when you're rolling one in a posh resturant :D

  14. Hyunsu,

I think that you should give up your day job and build guitars all day.

I really do enjoy looking at your work, who knows maybe one day I'll be able to buy one. Infact I think you should sell me one :D ............

    ...........cheaply :D

That looks like a very good fix on that crack too.

    Kaj :D

    EDIT - Happy Birthday B):D
