  1. Hello, Thanks for the replies and info - I'll let you know how it goes. dmic
  2. Yes. What about the spring cavity and posts is giving you trouble? Hello, Well I'm not exactly sure how to install them. I have another guitar that I can look for reference but once I start drilling holes there's no turning back and the posts seem to be the important holes to drill in terms of spacing from the tremolo hardware and lining up with the neck. I was hoping there would be some sites on the net that detailed some of the installation process. dmic
  3. Hello, Is anyone out there familiar with installing a Schaller Tremolo system? I was wondering if there were any tutorials online. I haven't found any so far..... I've routed the hole for the main part (the saddle/tremolo hardware) but I'm getting stuck on the springs and the two posts. This is a brand new guitar body with no holes in it yet (except for the main part I mentioned above)... Thanks, dmic
  4. Hello, Are there any pictures/recordings of the Zappa hot dot guitar? Sounds very interesting. Doug Michael
  5. Hello, I didn't think about that but it might sound interesting with the higher notes.... anyways I wonder if there is anything else I can do besides using active pickups to make the neck extremely responsive to tapping. Whatever happened to Stanley Jordan? I wonder if he does anything special to his guitars? Thanks for the info on the last several posts... Doug Michael
  6. Hello, The dry ice sounds incredible when heated. Kendra Juul captures this thru a contact mic and moves the dry ice over different metal surfaces. As the ice melts it makes some pretty wild screeching sounds. Doug Michael
  7. Hello, I posted this to the electronics section but maybe this chat is more appropriate....... I'm currently designing a guitar used for tapping - it will lay flat like a lap steel. I would like to design the neck to be very responsive to any slight finger touch and was thinking about positioning a pickup near the headstock and/or maybe even taking up the first fret area. Are there any guitars out there that use this idea already or something similar? Thanks, Doug Michael
  8. Hello, Thanks - this looks like my kind of site with a ton of guitar info. I'll let you know how this turns out. I have built several guitarish instruments using a walker, wood, and contact mics. Here's a link to a pict if your interested. My new idea will incorporate some of those ideas along with some new stuff including some oscillators and a lo-fi sampler. http://members.ispwest.com/dmichael/cmau.html Thanks, Doug Michael
