Is there enough room in the back cativity for it?
Here is a picture of a guitar exacly like mine one http://www.sweelee.com.sg/Images/Jackson/R...ue(Enlarge).jpg
or should I just change the pickups and leave it?
pots arent too big so you should have space, you can judge that yourself
open up the back, or remove the pickguard (wherever the pots are kept) and have a look. see if there is enough space to fit another pot. if so, your in luck.
EDIT: Picture doesnt work mate

ok, this is an extremely n00bish question and i am a n00b so go easy on me please.
i am about to install my emg actives into my guitar, and i have to solder the braided emg 81 cable to the back of the tone pot.
and i was wondering if it was ok just to tape the wire to the back of the pot. because they would both be in contact with each other right? or am i missing something?
i wanted to do this because i heard that overheating a pot could completely ruin it, and im a n00b so im thinking that its likely to happen to me.
if this isnt method isnt possible, then could somebody give me some tips and pointers on how not to ruin your pots when soldering the braided cable to the back of the tone pot?
cheers

ok
i understand what you mean now
i did middle to middle, it should be middle to outside yea?
ok, now that i have got that right, is that all? is that correct now? am i ready to install the pickups?
btw, is the emg 81 wiring right?
thank you very very much for your help, you've been extremely helpful
cant tell you how important you have been
cheers mate!

I still cant seem to understand, my pickups have one wire each with a braid that is to be soldered to the back of the volume and then the signal that is going to the switch. Its really confusing me.
EDIT: Heres the passive pickup wiring for mine.
http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/wire.asp?y=2004&w=RG2620
EDIT2: Hmm, I may have understood it now, but Ill wait for an answer anyway so I dont screw stuff up.
tell us what you think you understand
that means we can tell you what to do and what not to do...well not me...im a n00b, but im sure the others will find it useful.
btw, i personally feel its better to strip everything out and replace it
but its up to you

ok, thank you very much for explaining it to me, i really appreciate it, thank you.
ok, what i dont understand is:
Solder wire on to pin 2 of the 89 control switchwhat wire do i solder onto pin 2 of the emg 89 control switch?
on the emg89 instruction guide, i see white cables...where do i get them from?
i've drawn a simple diagram of what i've understood, can you tell me if its right and use it to tell me what i have to do?
here it is: Diagram
thank you very much

will this diagram work with the emg 89 and the emg 81...?
if it is the right diagram then thats perfect for me. but i just dont understand one thing.
what are the cables labled 1, 2, 3 on the diagram? :S where do i get that from? do i have to supply it myself or what?
thanks

Hey guys! Thought I could ask you here since not even the tech at EMG knew how to do it, and Ibanez won't let them know either .
I have bought a set of EMG's for my Ibanez and while the jack and everything seems alright the pickup switch is giving me a headache. Its a 3 way and where the soldering is there is like 12 small metal pins arranged in 3 rows of 4. How the hell do I wire this?

hey slab, try changing the selector, but i understand that you may not want to because its a prestige ibanez, so i dunno, maybe sum1 else can help. btw, that ibanez is kick ass
