  1. i want to run the emg 81 and the emg 89 throught the emg 89 push/pull pot set.

    is that possible?

Yes - you can use them as a master volume/tone for both pickups.

would i be able to cut some of the black wire and resitor wire from the emg 81 pot set and join it on to the emg 89 pot set so that its further apart and will be able to fit the holes?
Again, no problem - simply splice in enough wire to give you the clearance you need. You can use the wire from the 81 or just use standard hookup wire.

wicked gdgd, thats what i wanted to hear :D

ok, now i have one more question

with the quick connect cable...one end goes in to the pickup...where does the other end go? i know it some how connects to the pots, but i dont really understand the diagram which came with the pickup so i dont know where exactly to connect it to.

so i connect it to the volume pot or the tone pot? or does i connect it to the selector... ?

    i have no idea :D

any help with that would be greatly appreciated,

one more thing, i may be asking for a lot, but here goes, has anyone got a close up photo of emg wiring so i can get a better idea?

any input would be greatly appreciated, thankx

p.s. if i run the emg 81 and 89 throught the 1 push/pull pot set, would that disable the coil tap ability?

  2. ok, im planning to install my EMG 81 and EMG 89 pickups into my guitar.

im a beginner, so go easy on me

i only have 2 holes in my guitar

1 for the volume pot and 1 for the tone pot

i want to run the emg 81 and the emg 89 throught the emg 89 push/pull pot set.

    is that possible?

ok, now the emg 89 push pull vol and tone pots are too close to each other to match the holes in the body. would i be able to cut some of the black wire and resitor wire from the emg 81 pot set and join it on to the emg 89 pot set so that its further apart and will be able to fit the holes?

i would be extremely greatful if you could help me with this.

    thank you very much

  3. Just curious, does it matter if there is any wood between the pickup cavitys and tremolo system? The only thing i can think of is pickup wires hanging down but if i tuck them away i thought i would be ok. Opinons everyone?

i dont it matters if theres no wood between the tremolo cavity and the p'up cavities, because you wont see the gap if you use pickup rings or a pick guard. and plus it wont effect the play ability...why would it?

however you would have to make sure that the cables and wires do not get caught up in the springs and what not.

but other than that i dont see much of a problem there, i say that you should carry on with the routing and if you do go deeper than you should...then dont worry its cool

  4. Looks good.  The upper cutaway looks a little too thick though.  The lower one looks accurate.

yea, hes got a point about the upper cut-away, and remember, the bottom cutaway has to be...how dya say it... :D it has to be sharp, well it just shouldnt be curvy, just make sure it aint curvy :D

yea, but the upper cutaway is definately a lil to thick

but other than that its fine

btw, what bridge are you installing for this jem?

  5. ok, my emg 89 arrived today!

  8. That is a good point. I dont know, im just worried that the trem or something wont fit right is what im scared of, i think im going to make it fit right going off my other guitar that has a trem on it (kirk hammett esp).

well isnt it better to make it too small, because then you can make it bigger, where as if you make it too big, you can make it smaller...get what im saying?

    :D

  9. Quick question, does it matter how big the area around the tremolo is? Here is a pic to show you what im talking about. I was just wonder if it mattered how big it was as along as the bridge and everything was still right on and in the correct place. I might have confussed some of you with this but just let me know if you understand what im talking about.

if i understand what your saying correctly, it wouldnt effect the playability of the guitar, but it would ruin the look, you would have a mini "moat" going around the trem, which would make it look a lil odd and not very jem like.

    dya get what i mean

btw, that guitar looks ace at the moment, youve got the rg shape just PERFECT, keep up the good work, im hooked on this topic, i check it everyday hoping for updates :D , im an rg/jem fan :D

oyea, btw i think you should go with a reverse headstock, theyre cool imo, check this pic out:
