  1. is the emg afterburner a seperate pot or does it replace the volume or tone pot?

because i want to get an emg 81 and emg 89, but i want to control them by 1 vol pot and 1 tone pot. will i need to replace one of them with the after burner or will i just have the afterburner as an extra seperate pot?

and is it possible to wire the emg 89 and the emg 81 and the afterburner together?

like, are they all compatible with each other?

  2. Ok, here we go

Well i was planning to get an emg-85 neck pickup to acompany my emg-81 bridge pickup. it seemed like the perfect combination but then...i came across the emg-89.

the emg website says thats its pretty much an emg-85 with a coil tap option.

if that is the case, then this is the most ideal pickup combination for me... (emg-81 & emg-89).

but i just wanted to make sure of a few things before i did buy it:

1.) Has anyone tried the emg-89 and if so, what did they think of it?

2.) When in humbucker mode, does it really like the emg-85?

3.) The emg-89 comes with special vol and tone pots, will i be able to use that to control the emg-81 pickup aswell? so basicly i want both pickups to be controlled by the 1 volume pot and 1 tone pot.

thats all i want to know for the moment

i would be extremely grateful if you could help me out with this

    cheers

  3. what is that black thing on this picture:

    kle_jack.jpg

looks like some sort of cover

i think that guitar is absolutely perfect, you couldnt have made it any better, its sooooo beautiful

i really wish i had it

only one bad thing, i think you should have installed a set of emg active pickups, preferably the EMG-81 (bridge) and the EMG-60 (neck).

otherwise, that guitar is perfect, how much did it cost in total to build?

    cheers

  4. i dunno if this has already been sed, but here goes

wake up! dime DID use BL L500xl pickups...

he used it for years and years, if you dont believe me, ask on sum pantera board or sum metal bored, they will tell you that what i have sed is correct and that the L500xl pickups kick the **** outta a dimebucker.

  5. Trem Cavity

What Is This Random Wire? Can Anyone Tell Me?

The only wire I see is the ground. Is that the one?

Look at the control cavity and you'll see it soldered to one of the pots.

o rite so thats the ground wire

i think i read somewhere that your not supposed to connect the ground wire when wiring emgs actives.

btw, i have just reaslised that my tone and volume pots are already wired(joined together with a wire and resistor...or sumthing like that) and they are too close together to fit in my current tone and volume pot holes.

    what do i do then?

  6. ok, heres a challenge for you wiring experts

i have bought a set of EMG Active Pickups, and i have NEVER installed a set of pickups before in my life.

Here are photos of the guitar i am about to install the pickups into. There are pics from "under the hood".

I cant find any pictures of the coil tap switch, i dont think i took any, but EMG active pickups cannot be coil tapped, so i am just going to unwire the coil tap switch but leave it there because i dont want a hole in my guitar.

basicly, using those photos, can you tell me how i would be able to install my EMG Active pickups.

What would i need, what i need to do...

    What materials do i need?

Do i need a solder iron?

What metal shall i use to melt (When soldering)?

Do i strip out the current electronics and use the pots that come with the pickups or do i just use the ones already in my guitar?

i would be extremely! greatful if you could give my some assistance and plus its may prove to be a bit of a challenge for you. B)

if you need any more information just reply and i will try to get back to you asap! :D

    thank you very much
