  1. hi there maye shhes really comming along very well. look forward to seeing all those chambers covered and all the hardware on it. i have to wait for mine as i am building a new neck.
  2. looking very good! look forward to seeing more progress!
  3. A very good idea! people who can't afford or want a trem might change their minds so they usually use this method or use a stop tail like off a gibson LP.
  4. Ahh mate! mega looking very good! still curious to see what your going to use, i know it sounds odd but have you thought of a jazzmaster / fender jag trem. very similar slightly different. Could be an option but well done shes looking good! mines nearly finished too!
  5. looking good! that should shift some weight, my first on was made from walnut and weighed a ton!
  6. Sweet... Where do you get your hardware? I saw a trem + bridge on a site for €800...I could get a Fender USA strat for that price....Is there any cheaper ones or do I have to make them myself? ← Sadly the Red special hard ware is always going to be very expensive as we all well know brian made his by had, from basicly junk so its always going to be a custom job. Heres a few links i have come across in my work.... Redspecialparts.com Kz Guitar Works Rs Guitars SEI Rs guitar works Jim Reed Guitars Legg Guitars These are just some companies that make and sell rs guitars or Parts, some ranging from the low priced Jim reed trem around 100 euros, to the most expensive KZ guitars. If your looking for a cheep trem email Jim reed, they don;t sell on the website so just email, i have pointed most of my friends in this direction and they were pretty happy with the trem unit. or you could try this GUy, Filipe Sousa in Portugal, a good friend of mine whose making parts for my RS at a good price! Filipes RS site You can also visit my site when its running again.... Matts RS site I hope this helps you, if you would like to speak further about it just email or if you have MSN add me in and i will speak about it.... P.S i see you are using Tornado Plans, beware of the neck and finger/ fret spacings as they are incorrect!
  7. Its been a quite since i been here !! and finally another red special builder THANK GOD! oh well heres mine the 2nd one! I will add some links later for you for more pics......
  8. Hi Guys Thanks for the kind words! Yes thats a brian may 6 pence not a real one lol There is one sitting under the tone pot tho! as soon as i get a bridge in and the rest i will take some more shots! cheers
  9. hi guys a few new pictures for you, not much really has gone on, a nut has been add which has been made out of bakerlite just yes i know what your think why !! I have also added a trussrod cover made from 3 mm perspex. Still awaiting the arrival of the roller bridge, vol + tone controls, and an updated tremolo! Pickups i am using are made in the UK called Adeson which are made to the specifications of 1960's burns tri sonics, I would post some audio files but i have no recording equipment at this time. heres some more pics.... 10. some new Pictures at the end of a hard week.... RS pic 1 RS pic 2 RS pic 3
  11. oh yes very chunky, i was lucky enough to try the Guyton RS prototype which the man also tried, its chuncky but very comfortable, as the String action is so low! Its incredible guitar for the time it was built!
  12. well blockboard is strips of wood glued together with a 3mm ply top and bottom comes in 18 mm sheets if your in the USA then its not avalible and you would of never heard of it! finger board is as original oak painted plack with a 7.25 radius. mine i hope is exactly the same, oak core, Blockboard wings holowed out with knife edge tremolo and micro roller bridge with burns / Adeson pickups. and the 6 phase switches.
  13. hi thanks guys. yes an oak fingerboard is designed to bring spring into the sound. not only that place does oak but David Dyke does it also in the UK.
  14. hi everyone! Its been a while since i posted on this forum because of work and things, You may remember i posted my old or take one RS here anlong with the blue traveller? Well if you don't heres a picture to jog peoples memories..... RS number 1 Traveller prototype well those were the first 2 guitars i made, anyway the second RS guitar is more accurate it has the original truss rod design, Nahogany neck, oak finger board, Block Board, Mahogany veneer, oak core in the body, along with the acoustic pockets. comments are welcome and i will try and answer any quiries as to what i have done. 15. thanks everyone I am guessing GOTM means Guitar of the month? The Red special in the background, yes another one of my creations, Walnut body, Mahogany neck and Rose wood finger board, 24 fret scale, roller bridge and knife edge trem. Plays very well supper low action! But it isn't as good as version 2 which is still in build! Thanks for all the comments and i will enter it for guitar of the month when i get my Camera working lol cheers mattw
  16. Yes sorry i din't make it totally clear it folded up! How much well considering its Mahogany and MDF cheep! umm the whole wood costs was around £30, the hardware was around £120, depends what hardware you want, i mean i put a trem on which to be honest is a waste of time! So if ya gunna copy this! Don't put a trem in it! mattw
  17. It takes up unnessessary space hey, well you see what it can do is the side wings fold in thus narrowing the guitar, It looks as big as the BHM guitar which i also made because thats in trhe distance it is smaller in scale. It plays nicely produces different tones also when the side wings are extended out and when there close to the body, as these wings have rexonance chambers in them influnced by the BHM design. At the moment it needs some tweaking as its completely new to me! Heres some pics when its all closed up! Traveller folded pic 1 Traveller folded pic 2 cheers mattw
  18. Hi everyone Its been a while now but i finally finished my own guitar, Its still a working prototype so its still a working progress. Everyone who has tried it in 6th from like playing it and also tried to buy it off me! Which i will consider I would like opions on it too see what everyone thinks? cheers matt Traveller Pic 1 Traveller Pic 2
  19. GOOD question! well the idea is when the wings are folded in as u can see the wings have chambers like Brians red special, so when there in its supposed to give the guitar more resonance and when there out the opposite effect! Hope that answers it mattw
  20. AHHH thanks i found it i must be going blind! Back to the comments now ! The spec of the traveller :- - Mahogany neck - Eboney finger board (eventually) - Medium fret wire - MOP inlays - Schaller machine heads Body - MDF, oak inserts - Tune o matic trem and bridge - Fender pickups - 220k pots - volume and tone - Electric blue as finish.
  21. Wheres the edit button? sorry for bin thick. mattw
  22. Thanks guys i tried all of them! an i have all of em as well! Is there a way to edit posts i can put them up as links?? Would that be better as this topic seems to be more about the size of the pics rather than what the picture is showing?? mattw
  23. Like i sai they are reduced by 50% can't reduce them any more or they lose image quality. Anyway yes it is similar tho BHM's spade wqhich was build AFTER this one this projects been running for over 2 years, its just brian got there first. hehe oh any guitar builders are always grumpy lol i am lol mattw
  24. Yes the traveller is MDF at the mo and will continue to be! It will have oak inserts like a brian may guitar. Planning to be finished soon hopefully! Oh and btw... the neck is gunna be held on by one bolt and 2 screws, just not put the screws in yet! And about pictures, never saw that in the rulz! Any way i can post bigger if you like as these are half size already, and i can tell how big there gunna be! And i for got to post a pic of the traveller lookin a bit different! Traveller open pic............
  25. Hi Yes ok i posted a few on Photo Bucket. lets see if it works this time!! Both RS guitars Red special Neck And my own design .......... traveller open Traveller guitar Hope it works mattw
