Uhhhh.... air norts are good neck pickups? I assume by your choice of bridge pickup you want something aggressive? try the Blaze neck. Or get a SD invader 7.

Guitarpartsresource.com sell gotoh ones for under 150 dollars. from what i hear they are good

well i would have thought the name was self explainatory! FUZZ!
(ie its a fuzz distortion pedal thing. its a bit odd. but good fun )
And you can't bugger up guitar electronics! beauty of solder! easy to undo!

Yup. That's fine. if that is the only powered part you're using in the guitar you might want to use a stereo jack to switch off the power (EMG stylee) when there isnt a jack in the guitar.
Save yer batteries and all...

Most modern tube power amps run the tubes at a similar voltage to any tube head. To be honest, i'm not really seeing what the point of buying a head is if you're going to run it through a load box and into another poweramp (or am i misunderstanding!?).
Listen..... Triaxis...... Triaxis..... (echo to infinity)
Just tell the wife, its the..... logical thing to do.... (that or get the MP-1 fixed )

Hiwatt's aint my cup of tea, i'd rather a marshall. Had a go on a THD univalve a while ago. Such an amazing amp. The shop had one set to a crunchy setting with a boss DS-1 and a strat. Great! and responds to volume knob changes very well... Worth a look. If you've got a rackmount gear and the preamp went tits up, why not get a new preamp... go on... treat yourself to a triaxis

Just a comedy craft supplies story for everyone after supernova9's post...
Ordered some stuff from craft supplies (woodturning blanks and blah)... 5 months ago. Still hasn't come. Think they might have lost it! ha ha ha! but hey, didnt end up needing the stuff anyway.
And, order some plain maple neck blanks from them. i ordered some and they are very very flamed (sam smiled).

Looks fine to me.
As for the shielded versus plain wire. The problem with shielded wire is you have to ground the shield, which can be a major pain and may, if not done properly cause you some grounding problems. If your components aren't too far away (as in a strat/tele style route) i wouldn't bother. Its only in long runs (as in lespaul tone/vol to the pickup selector and back to the jack) that i'd use shielded wire.

why not fit a proper guitar with a graphtech midi system? probably cost you 200 quid, but would be alot easier probably? i hear they're very good (and track bends too )

Don't know about the toneworks pedal. Never used them. But as for dialing in 'that sound' it usually takes alot of time and experimentation. Keep it simple first and dont layer on loads of effects! get the basic sound, then add your delays blah blah...
As for boss pedals, Bulletproof is the work i'd use. But alot of them can be quite sterile sounding (especially the delays in my opinion) but the distortions tend to be pretty good (DS-1 comes to mind )

If you have a wide nut you can use a F-spaced pickup at the neck position too. Looking at my PRS pickups in my tremonti they are what SD and dimarzio would call trembucker or F-spaced in the neck position too

Do guitar strings actually f*ck up after a while or is it just us all thinking they do? and does all this plastic coating rubbish actually do anything to alleviate any problems found in previous question.
Did something along that line for a physics project in school.
quite easy to set up really .

They were used for under an hour? They really that bad?
Sorry!
S

RIGHT. Sorry this is annoying me now.
SPST switch or SPDT switch: (note: SPDT should be ON-ON type)
0----->Ground
Volume pot 'hot' ---->0<----- output jack 'hot'
(0)
This will act as a kill switch. It basically shorts the hot output of your pickups to ground (ie exactly the same as a volume pot does, but using a switch rather than a potentiometer).
Get a switch from any decent electronics/guitar parts shop.
Oh, this does ground the amp input by the way. its works exactly the same as a volume pot.

Bravo old boy.
i remember a few years ago figuring out, it was cheaper to buy a UK made vox AC30 in the states, having it shipped here, paying import tax & having the input transformer changed than it was to buy it in sound control in bristol.
Thanks gordon brown!

oh for goodness sakes.
you only need a SPST switch. (although a SPDT can be used in much the same way). Connect one tag to BOTH the output from the volume pot and the output jack, and the other to ground. That way when the switch is activated the hot output is shorted to ground. Voila! Kill switch.

NO NO NO!!!
Seriously man. I've had a couple of X bridges (same as T bridge but in a strat type trem).
Recently i got a graphtech ghost system just to see what it was like. 10 times better results. it actually does sound like an acoustic where the LR baggs sounds kinda like one. Admittidly they are a bit more expensive... but well worth it. And you can put em in whatever bridge you want (i'm using my beloved hipshot trems now :D:D)

Yeah that's right. well the top E string is tuned down to D, but hey. Nice tuning. Same as some of the creed stuff (like my sacrifice, weathered, faceless man etc etc). You're two top strings should be at the SAME pitch.

Doesnt look like the same place. Never used autopaint international. so cant speak for em.

Yeah, put me down for a couple.

You'll be fine. Just treat it as a smacked wrist and don't do it again.
In terms of sanding dust that we guitar makers produce, some of it is indeed carcinogenic, but then so are brazil nuts. Its all about how much you inhale. How, taking it that you breathe most of the time through your nose, the likelyhood of any particles reaching your lungs are small (why your bogies go wood coloured ). So chill.
As for pulmonary wards, no not much fun to be in. But try working on one
