I think to be honest, as long as the two guitar sounds are different enough to be heard as two guitars it doesnt matter. Unless of course you're playing the same thing and want a wall of sound effect... hmmmm...

just borrow as many axes as you can and try them all in a band situation. then you'll know what sounds best with the other gear you have.

Well i measured my friends CE24 for ya. Back is 1", top appears to be 3/4" (from bottom of faux binding to bottom of bridge).

Ok... a few years ago i bought some KA single coil sized humbuckers for my strat. Sounded nice. Now, i remember them being about $32.50 each or somthing around that. I looked recently and they were all over 60!

Have they gone up in price? did i just get a good deal before? or am i looking in the wrong place?!

Don't see the point in replacing the single coils with cheapo squire ones which probs aint any better than the stock ones. but stick the shadow in... what'vwe ya got to loose?

Go back to basics and check every wire goes to the right place and has good continuity (with a multi meter... you shouldn't think of wiring anything without one ). Work from the pickup to the output jack. Also check you're battery isnt dead

Hey dude. I did a few guitar designs based around the hipshot bridges a while ago. havent got the designs to hand to tell you the exact sizes (got them off the hipshot website when it still had them). But the string spacing (individual string spacing that is) is identical on all the bridges that look like that one (plus the tremolos). Best guitar parts (google it) have the diagram for the 6 string still on their website.

Man, New strat bodies go for chips money. I'd just buy a new one (or make one!!). Be easier, cheaper in the long run, plus i dont know what a filler body guitar would sound like :s

Can i make a recommendation?

Go to amazon or whatever (from the ebay auction i assume ur in the UK), and buy a copy of 'hot to build an electric guitar'.

Before you even think of doing anything, Read read read and read some more.

And pay attention in your DT classes... you'll learn alot

Well i learnt my lesson the hard way. Dot some nice flame maple for some tops, completely screwed one up.

So, now i have lots of very boring plain maple to practice!

Depends who you are. Why not try it both ways? its easy to move round.

To give you some idea, listen to the new Dream theater DVD/cd (score) cous thats a D-sonic with the bar towards neck. And i think the guy from linkin park uses the same pickup the other way.

But why not just try it. Only takes 5 mins to swap the direction round.

Uhhhh.... I think people are getting mixed up. You can't plug a preamp straight into a speaker cabinet. It just doesnt have the output to drive a speaker. Full stop.

Now, if the said cabinet is Powered... then yes. But as there are hardly any companies out there making powered guitar cabs (tech21 is the only one that springs to mind, only cous it was reviewed in this months guitarist), i dont suppose you have one of those.

So in short. yes, you need a poweramp before the cab.

Sorry, I was just suggesting things to try before you start taking a pedal apart!

Now, the keeley mods are pretty simple for the most part. As long as you have some simple soldering skills etc. Now there is a very nice site that describes some of the keeley mods in a DIY fashion. Cant remember if it has the pedal you're using. But deffo has the DS-1 seeing eye mods etc.

You say its a bit noisy... Its a high gain pedal... Its gonna be! If you want to get rid of the high end then use the eq on the pedal, and if thats not enough, use your amp eq and/or a eq pedal. Also have you got a noise gate?
