Check out ebay. I found several tusq pre-slotted 12 string nuts. Also, universaljems has 12 string bridges.

No problems glueing cocobolo here, just use titebond and the same methods as glueing any other wood. Maybe I've just been lucky.

As for the dust, I recently bought a nasal irrigation product and use it after working with cocobolo, or any other time I'm in a dusty environment. It's a bit uncomfortable to rinse out your sinuses with saltwater, but not so bad after you're used to it. Kinda like getting water in your nose when swimming. And it sure helps me with any breathing issues after being in the dust.

I sanded a cocobolo board up to 2000 grit and it's almost like a mirror. Very beautiful, if you can handle the dust. I found some 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper at Autozone.

I'm having the same overtone and brightness issue with one of my guitars with the string-thru/tom combination. I don't notice it through an amp, but it is highly noticable when playing acoustically. I saw this same technique of adding a wood piece between the bridge and ferrules on Jet guitars, and have been wanting to try it. I just haven't got around to it. Now I'm very much inspired! Thanks for the great post!

Yes that's right, the LMI is sized for an acoustic. I managed to get a 24 fret bolt electric neck out of it by using a small sized head shape with 3 tuners on a side. No scrap left, and not much room for error, but it worked.

I would like to try padouk for a neck also. I bought a cocobolo top from soundat11 and it was really nice. I've read that padouk is similar to maple in tone, but I have no personal experience with it. Keep us all posted.

I just sanded the neck down to 1500. I did apply some lemon oil after that. Sorry, I don't have pics at this time, camera is on the blink. Maybe after Christmas, I'll have a camera!!

I plan to use rosewood again, I like it that much. The only thing I'll do different, is try to machine the neck dimensions alot closer before carving to save some time and sore muscles.

Wow, cool bridge system there Rich. Big plus for originality! A sort of 2-piece acoustic wrap-around thang. I like the idea of recessing to hide the ball ends, or perhaps a small plate across the top to hide them.

On the mimf awhile back, someone reported using a single piezo under a split saddle with good results. Supposedly no drop outs even though the piezo wasn't directly under the saddles all the way across. If memory serves, the D and G strings were slightly off (forward) from the piezo, but they still came through with little or no change compared to the other strings. So said that person anyway.
