  1. The one I have that's too big is too big all the way around. If I file the edges, I loose both e string slots.
  2. I'd sell the whole stupid guitar for $75. Think if I parted it out, I'd get more for it? I'm having a really hard time finding pickups that fit.
  3. I desire being able to play the guitar for as cheap as possible. The guitar is almost junk. I don't want to pour a lot into it. I found some chrome dog earred P90 style covers. I measure my pickups and ring and it is too small for this guitar. I emailed the guy with the covers to see if they would fit. How do the covers work? Would I just mount the pickup under the cover or would I actually have to take the pickup apart and replace the top part with the cover? I'm liking the tone switch idea.
  4. What kind of bridge do I need with a Bigsby style tailpiece and is there any place to get that spring and bar for the tailpiece?
  5. What's coil spliting, and would I need a two or three way switch for that? Do I wire the whole thing, then start shoving through the holes?
  6. I'm not used to playing standing up. It hurts my left hand. What should I do, make the strap shorter, move my thumb to the bottom of the fingerboard instead of behind the neck, or just keep playing and eventually I'll get used to it?
  7. I have a bunch of crap pickups that either suck, or don't work. If I built a pickup winder (how hard is that?), would it be hard to turn these into good pickups? How much would it cost to build a pickup winder?
  8. So I am supposed to sand, and I do need a buffing compound?
  9. I just sprayed my last coat of clear....now what? I just got a buffer. Do I need to use any kind of compound or something, or just the buffer itself? I am no supposed to sand the clear before I buff, am I?
  10. What's a slider switch? Do I just need two pots, pickups, and a switch to get this beast working? Where does all this crap go? Do I just let it hang inside? I'm beginning to think this was a bad idea to fix this guitar up.
  11. Here's a picture. Two knobs, I'll have to check on the dimentions of the pickup cavities. What are the two other holes for, a toggle switch and something else?
  12. The current pickup is mounted in the body. The pickups I want come with rings. Did they come with rings because they have to be used with them, or can I mount them just like my old ones?
  13. How many watts do I need? I found a 60 watt Crate Blue Voodoo. I should really go somewhere where I can play some of the amps mentioned, but the closest place is an hour away. I am planning on going soon. I like the idea of a combo amp with 1 12". It seems cheaper, lighter to carry, and I can turn it up for distortion. My band broke up. I'm doing live sound for some local bands, and if I ever got a band, I would have one of my friends who helps run our sound. I would have my amp mic'ed running through the main PA speakers. That's how all the clubs do it, too. Think the 1 12" 60 watt Blue Voodoo would work?
  14. Do I have to use the rings? If I bought pickups that came with the ring, could i just get rid of it and use the pickup by itself, or does the ring have a purpose?
  15. What do I need to get a hollow body working? It came with no electronics at all. Do I need any special type of pickup to work, as in size or anything?
  16. Should I get rid of the POD and MT2 pedal?
  17. I'm liking the idea of a small 2 12 combo instead of a head and half stack. The JCM 900 doesn't look bad. The Blue Voodoo looks pretty sweet, too. What about any Line 6 amp? I seen a band last night and that's what they used. The sound guy sucked and I couldn't hear the guitarist at all, so I don't really know what it sounds like.
  18. I got a new drill pess too! There was some tool show at the county fairgrounds on Thanksgiving day. I got a drill press and buffer. There was some pretty good in there that was really cheap.
  19. What about the Warhead and Cyclone....do those suck? I played through my frined's pratice amp and liked it. Also, my guitar through my teacher's amp is sweet, too. I've upgraded the pickups with a JB at the bridge thanks to Wes. I'm positive my guitar is not the problem. The speakers came hand made from some guy I met on eBay. He used $20 speakers. It's closed back. I have used with a different head and it really sucked, that's why I got the Peavey. Never used anything I liked with it, though. The head is a Peavey Revolution. Here's a review of it http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data...on_Head-01.html I never tried this with anything else. The POD and MT2 pedal might also be the problem. I never liked anything I played with them. My frined's amp and my teacher's had their own distortion, so I needed need any effects of my own. Even with headphones or my Boss practice amp and the pedals, I still hate the tone.
  20. There is no damage other that paint chips, but the paint is so thick that it would need filled if I were just going to paint over the finish. Sanding it clean should fix everything right up. The BC Rich has a couple of small dings in it. Should I just fill those then sand, prime, and paint?
  21. My tone sucks, I'm thinking it's time to get rid of all my crap and get something good. My cabinet is crap no-name brand. The head is Peavy. My effects are POD 2.0 and Boss MT2 Metal Zone. I want a good metal/neo-classical tone. I'm thinking about a Randall half stack, but I don't really know.
  22. I can just prime and paint over all three? What about the second one with the dings? Would I fill that with wood putty, or what?
  23. I have three guitars I need to refinish. One is a black BC Rich Jr. V. I want to refinish it black. Can I just sand it until it isn't shiney, spray some black, then add some clear, or do I have to sand down to wood? The second guitar is red, but has been refinished already. It was a purpleish color, then painted red. There is some huge dings in the paint that go down to wood. It looks like the paint is really thing. I was holding it and more paint started coming off. Should I sand that down to the wood, and refinish? The third is a nasty pink and white marble bass. I want that any other color except pink and white. Should I sand it til it isn't shiney, spray some primer, then paint and clear, or would that be too thick?
  24. I end up getting 800 grit from Napa for $2 and some change for 6 sheets, but I have to wait til Friday to get it. It's the highest I could find and it was the cheapest.
