  1. *cough* i want it in black! *cough* hahaha, ive looked everywhere...ill probly end up calling up ed roman's and ordering it it from them over the phone.
  2. Awesome, thanks for the info guys. but now im having trouble finding someone who actuall HAS the OFL....this is thoroughly annoying. thanks shant
  3. perfect. (sort of sarcastically) i went to order the OFL from Ed and of course something is wrong with their order forms so it never went through. good thing tho because i was looking around and i relized something. if i buy the 1 5/8 nut then that converts to about 41.2 mm when i was originally planning on making a 43mm nut width. i havent yet cut the neck out but would it be better if i bought the 1 11/16in nut (which converts to about 42.9mm)? Would that be more suitable for 43 mm nut width? or...should i just shut up and buy the R2(1 5/8)?
  4. my compund radius was straight as an arrow. But if you're planning on using a floyd rose then drop the compund radius junk. im going through hell trying to figure this bridge radius stuff.
  5. haha great info derek, ill use the shims to fine tue it. im very **** about it. now as for what to buy...haha...im sorry, $200+ is a big investment for me. Correct me if im wrong. 1) im going to buy this from ed roman http://www.iwantguitars.com/?product=120 which from my knowlege now is a 12" radius BRIDGE which i will change to 16-18" inch with shims. 2) then im goin to buy this http://www.warmoth.com/hardware/parts/part...ude_string_nuts the R2B thus making it a compound string radius. (dear god i hope i got this right)
  6. Maybe im a bit confused here. can i get the bridge in different radii or is it only one radius bridge with multiple nut radii. i understand the concept behind the 10-16" radius change but im clueless as to where to buy what...and with what you guys are saying, would i have to get a schaller instead of the OFL? Id much rather spend more $ and get the better one. i really appreciate the help.
  7. Is that really possible? Physically it does seem to work but howabout purchasing wise. Every single place sells a different radius OFL and they hardly ever specify which one they sell.
  8. OK so heres what i jsut found out. I called Warmoth to order my OFL and I talked to the guy a bit and in addition to him telling me they are backorderd for over 6 months on the OFL, he told me that it would be better for me to buy the 15in radius rather than the 10" becasue i have the compund radius. Therefore he reccomended that I buy the Schaller Licenced. I really dont want to buy the schaller. Now I have no idea where to buy the OFL from....and im even more confused as to what radius to purchase.
  9. Its an Original FR I dont think you can adjust anything because the nut is actually bent to the required radius. So wait...which would be better to buy the 10" radus or the 16" if my fretboard is compund from 10-16.... damn the confusion!
  10. Oh! Thanks for the quick response. Im a bit relieved now, i didnt really feel like dealing with sending anyhting back and reordering. Any other suggestions and opinons?...if anyone wants to contribute. Oh, and i found this. http://floydrose.com/pdf/brochures/Floyd_R...ge_Brochure.pdf 10" is the right radius.
  11. Ok so I finally recievd my compound radius fretboard and now that i think of it, it might have been a bad idea to buy it. I remember reading about how Floyd Rose Tremolos are only 10" radius and that they MUST be 10" radius fret boards. Is this true?? _shant
  12. hm. ok. that sounds good. thanks for the replies. i guess ill order it now. ill post a small review on the fingerboard after i get it. thanks shant
  13. Anyone have any comments or complaints about the 25-1/2" Fender Scale Compound Radius Fingerboard? Im looking to buy one to put on my 25.5 scale soloist-type body. 37$ seems a bit too much compared to Warmoth's 22$ for the same thing w/o the Compund Radius. Or is it that Warmoth's is cheaper quality? http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bodies,_necks,...ingerboard.html thanks shant
  14. Alright sounds good. that gets rid of some calcuations that id rather not do. thanks for the replies!!
  15. I actually like the look of the recessed Floyd, i was jsut confused as to which measurements to utilize. Howabout neck angle...Would it be better to give the neck an angle or is it not worth the trouble and calculations?I read somewhere on here that most floating tremolos dont have an angled neck. Can anyone confirm this?
  16. so which one would be right? The ones ive seen routed on guitars dont have that extra lip at the end...it doesnt seem necessary at all to me.
  17. Im out to make a guitar with a Floyd Rose and im sort of confused as to what exactly im supposed to use as a template for the routing. I did read the pinned topic about the tremolo but im still confused. What measurements are the ones i shoudl use to route? http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/I-1118.html this one is for the floyd rose...but is it not at all routed on top? http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/I-1119.html this one is for the recessed but from what i said up top you can understand why this confuses me. http://floydrose.com/instructions.html#original this one is right off the Floyd Rose site but is it recessed?? compared to this http://www.chrisguitars.com/esp-body-green.jpg the rear routing of the tremolo is different from the dimensions given on the floydrose website.... Hopefully someone can see my dillema here...which measurements are the best for me to use....I would assume the ones right from floydrose.com but still id love some help. -thanks! (BTW heres the autoCAD i did for the guitar...if anyone can find mistakes or what not then id appreciate the help http://www.shantergenian.com/stufff/gtar/m2s.jpg )
  18. Im going to put an OFR tremolo on a guitar im building and i wasnt sure if it was 100% necessary to have to wood be 1 3/4 inches thick. I only ask this because the directions on the Floyd Rose website show these measurements which make me wonder a bit. For those who dont wanna click the link. Its a picture of the different depths of the routings and for the thichness of the guitar it shows 1.75 inches. If i decide to make the guitar, say, 1.60 inches would it make a big difference???
  19. Hey, Im goin to start on a new project tomorrow and i was wondering what sorts of paint would be proper to use under a polyurethane clear? I mean, i know about Reranch and such but im goin to need a number of different colors and im not up for paying 16+ a bottle for it. I was in pepboys today and i saw a bunch of differnt sorts of paint for classic cars in aerosol cans. Would these be safe under a polyurethan finish? Thankss
  20. i guess no one has one. well i started making one. i still dont have measurements for it, but i know a few ways to get some. I also hear that the Jackson Soloist guitar has the same proprtions and what not, so if anyone has that.... -shant
  21. Hey, Im planning on starting my first build this summer but im having trouble finding a blueprint for the ESP M-II. I tried searching the forum but i got no results. I'd appreciate any help. Here's my initial sketch over a print. I took the M-II from the ESP website and photoshopped it to what I'd like to make.
