  2. Ok here's the progress so far. The Quilted Maple top. still need to joint and glue it. Here's the body wings still need to bookmatch and plan. Here's the Gabon Ebony finger board, with some wicked figure. And piece de resistance, the 7 piece laminated neck Lacewood and Sipo. Cheers more to come tomorrow.
  3. I posted it as being a LAminated neck, but I'm changing the layout. it's going to be Lacewood with Sipo laminated. Sorry. My mistake. I meant a 5 or 7 piece laminate. you know. Lotsa detail goin on. I think the feathers would look cool, maby make them up & just place them on the board for a visual to help make up your mind. But the fanned board might be enough so you may be right to ditch them. Never realy know untill you realy get into the build. tell yeah what I'll add them into the mockup so you tell me what you think. it's a 7 piece laminate neck.
  4. I was also thinking of adding small feathers on the fretboard but it looked to busy in the mockup.
  5. I posted it as being a LAminated neck, but I'm changing the layout. it's going to be Lacewood with Sipo laminated.

  10. :D Yep I go past the light I want to turn left at then make 3 rights gets me back on track every time. Not so good on gas though. B)
  11. Use shorter screws. Walla it's that easy. Or raise the neck so the fingerboard is higher then raise the saddles.
  12. God this whole thread is a waste of bandwidth. if your to ******* lazy to do a search then don't try to build a guitar. It's a waste your time and ours, not to mention the wood. Oh this post is a waste of even more bandwidth. So why doesn't Perry do the tutorial write up on " How to do a search on this forum and not ask the same **** question for the hundredth time.
  13. I wont be filling it with epoxy it's meant to be a carving be it a negative carving not a positive like this. Do you think this looks odd? Mine is meant to be a carving that can be seen but doesn't jump out at you. What looks to be un even stain isn't at all it's the light hitting the round carving.
  14. I'd say Vancouver-ish no Orcas in Manitoba. LOL the dye looks uneven do to the carve and the roundness of it. Al so the flash on the camera. In person it looks great.
  15. It was going to be there all along. I have talked it over with several people through pm'd on how to go about it. I had first thought about burning it into the wood. But we figured it could be a hit and miss. Meaning it might look good but it might not and once it's burnt in it's there. So after that we divided to stain it in black and leave the ash natural. This looked good but I over the build decided on my own I wanted the guitar black. So I stained the guitar black leaving the orca natural. This didn't look good at all. So it then hit me, I got my chesils and carved the Orca into the body it's about a 16th" deep. Then I stained it black to match the body. It looks great it's there but it's not like jumping out at you if you know what I mean. Un like if it was natural ash and the body is black it's suddal. Adds some texture I feel it helps the look of the overall build.
  16. Dyed and ready for filler and finish. Here's a teaser.
  17. My piani is now 4 steps away.
  18. Hey can't tell what's going on post a pic of the bridge as well and a pic of the guitar from the nut to the bridge. Over head will work.
  19. Update time got my long awaited pickups and parts. Thanks once again to RestorationAD Best pickups in the land and great parts supplier. Now it's just time to sand and do the finish on this beast. Cheers
  20. doesn't sound snooty at all. It's the truth. Next time I finish a guitar I'm going to do it the way I want to. This was the original plan. Thanks for the nice comment guys.
  21. I would get some mop and a file make some dust add to crack then super glue it. Then sand and polish.
