  1. My biggest concern is the FB sticking up too high when it meets the body, wouldn't it create a downward angle for the strings to the bridge??
  2. What would be the maximum thickness of a fretboard on a Fender style neck and bridge? I currently have it over a 1/4 of an inch, radiused and the fret slots cut.
  3. That is perfect! I never would have thought to do that. I think that would look much cleaner than routing straight through, also add more resistance. Now, hopefully this will be my second of thousands more questions...JK...are all truss rods the same length? If I am going for a 25.5 scale?
  4. I don't quite understand what you mean? Do you have a picture? Would a dual action rod be different? The easier the better!!! Thanks.
  5. I am still in my design mode for a build I would like to start in the near future. It is going to be strat like to help reduce some of the more complicated angle measurments and such. It will also have a flat headstock. The book that I have describes in detail how to rout for a heel access truss rod, but I would like to have access at the headstock. Is there anything special I would need to do to rout for this channel? Can I just carry the rout out into the headstock area?
  6. This is exactly what I was hoping for...this will definately give me some motivation and reassurance that this can be done. It seems very daunting when looking through the posts. I do have two books, one by Tom Hirsch and another by something Rollof??, but I do not have THE book that everyone raves about. Anyway...great first efforts by everyone...there is some serious talent here!. Keep them coming. Thanks, Gari
  7. As a NOOB, who is starting the process of designing a guitar to build, I would love to see a thread where everyone posts pictures of their first completed guitars. I think it would definately be great to see how everyone made out on thier first try. I don't have anything to add myself at the moment, but hopefully in the not too distant future. Thanks.
