Just looked back in the thread, the mock-ups did look kinda goofy, but I think with a little work it could be done.

Are you going to have a Truss-rod cover? If so, to make it matching the body would be awesome.

While I'm at this, why didn't you paint the head stock to match the body? That's really the only thing design-wise I would change.

Where are you from that it's that hot? I thought it was hot here in northern Minnesota at 85 degrees.

SW Indiana. I moved up here from Texas thinking I would get a break from the heat. And I guess it is a bit of a break...in West Texas we had air temps of 115 from time to time. But it was a dry heat.

The high for today is only 88F, so I'm thinking of ducking out of the office early today and working into the evening. It's gonna get hot again next week but only in the mid 90s.

Only thing I don't like here, is the battery compartment placement. Just looks out of place.

You said that the new one will most likely be from aluminum as well. Unless you anodize\paint them it's still going to be eye sore IMHO.

It's just like, the body, fretboard, and neck are all dark and beautiful woods, then BAM there's this big chunk of bright shiny metal.

regarding the pots catching when turned -it could be that they are not a perfect tight fit on the shaft so they will be pushed slightly off centre when the set-screw in the side of the knob is tightened. If you can then try wrapping the shaft in something to pad it out before tightening the screw.

I actually use a piece of 80mm pick in the split on the shaft to stop the set screw from crushing the shaft and causing knob wobble...

I've been bothered by the fact the the pots on my Warbeast wobble due to them being a split-shaft, that's a great idea!

I love everything about it, except the control cavity cover makes me want to yack. I think black plastic, or just about anything would go with the wood better than the aluminum.

Just my personal opinion of course.

nah it should pretty much look like the mockups i tried the military styled 'arrow chevrons' and it didnt work as well, but the tape is reffered to as chevron tape at my local hardware store. and here as well http://www.landw.co.za/products/view/1

and as i said im going for the electrical harzard tape

Thanks, at some point I would like to make one like that. Ive never been a big fan of playing Vs, they just feel a bit awkward to me. For some reason all of my guitar design come out very goth... Im not at all gothic, but I guess im just drawn to that aesthetic.

Are you painting the black strips like in the mock-ups you did? If so, those are not really chevrons.

As far as the Schaller Floyd goes, they ARE the people who make the OFR.

I'm sure that their licensed version is just as good, if not better. But I have never played one, so I can't be 100% certain.

EDIT: It looks like the Schaller Licensed version has replaceable Knife edges, which is kinda cool.
