  1. Oh how exceedingly, very cool!! Thanks, man.
  2. I dreamed this up a few days ago when trying to figure out how to copy a Wizard neck. Since it's flat across the back, could I just buils this angled jig, shaped like a miter box, and just pass the router back and forth over the neck blank? I could round the edges either by hand or rout them as well if I had the right bit. Not sure about this, so I'm asking for opinions.
  3. Go to Neal Moser's site. You have to join the forum to find the "Brotherhood of Wood" section. He's got a really good tutorial pinned outlining the building of a neck-thru. I have it printed out and bound.
  4. Very cool. I just saved a giant block of wood, bro.
  5. Can I make a scarf joint in a neck but still have the headstock straight instead of angled? I have a piece of laminated Maple/Padauk that is almost long enouh for a neck, but not quite. I wanna make a straight headstock, so I wonder if there are any strength and stability issues I need to consider.
  6. I totally redid the website to make it easier to follow. Hope you like it.
  7. My Washburn MG44tremolo anchors are pulling up out of the guitar body when I tighten the screws. I've been doing this with the guitar strung. Is this wrong? More importantly, how do I re-anchor them? They're not leaning, and they don't just pull out by hand. Can I pull them out and glue them in? How would I get them out safely, if so? Any help is really appreciated, since this is my only guitar at the moment.
  8. OKAY, what do you guys think of my headstock design? It's derived from an Ibanez headstock. I think it's pretty cool. Feedback?
  9. Site's been updated as prommised. More to come.
  10. My new project is in progress as of now. Details: Cherry body with Padauk top/headstock veneer. Maple neck, rosewood fretboard with 24 frets. Side dots only. One single, one Humbicker pickup. Volume and 3 way switch only. Website Photos to be posted throughout the process. The wood is in except the Padauk. More to come tonight. This is to be a full tutorial site complete with mistakes and tips. It's my first full build, so it should be a good aid for other newbies.
  11. I have all the wood and hardware to begin my first whole guitar. It's going to be an Ibanez RG body copy, but a bit thinner, closer to a Blackmachine. No tremolo. I want to set this one up to play with a light touch and low action. Does anyone have some preliminary advice about neck shapes and scale length? (I hear 24" makes for lower string tension. Any comments?) Advice in any area is welcome. Pictures to follow soon. Thanks.
  12. I just got a pretty decent Washburn MG44 in a trade, but there is this one small dent in the neck that's driving me crazy. It's not even that bid, but it feels like a piece of dirt under my thumb when I play. There are also some dents on the body, but no gouges. Is there a good way of raising the wood again to allow me to sand it smooth? I heard that applying a moist rag to the spot and applying heat, say, from a soldering iron, works, but I want to do it right and not ruin it, since it's my only guitar. Thanks guys.
  13. Cool, It's either that or Maple now for my Lep Paul copy. Thanks Drak.
  14. Does anyone know if Padauk is a good choice for fretboard wood? I have some laying around and if I can use it I will, but I don't want to waste time and wood if it's no good. Thanks.
  15. Thanks, Godin. This worked perfectly the first time. Finally!!
  16. It has a trem, so I think I'll try lubing the nut and a new set of tuners. If that doesn't work, I can always use the parts for my first guitar build. Thanks.
  17. My older Ibanez is a decent feeling guitar and I like playing it, but it won't stay in tune for crap. It has the cheap open tuner pegs on it. If I replace them with closed tuners, would it help? The bridge and nut are decent also. I'm looking for a cheap fix if possible for an axe I plan to give to my kid.
  18. Most excelent, my friend. Thanks for the help. I'll give it a go this weekend. Have a good one.
  19. Thanks, man. Problem is that I'm stupid so I need someone to show me where each wire actually goes. I know, pathetic. I got the body all fixed, the neck the way I like it and the trem just right but I should have made a diagram. I don't get the eight poles on the switch and only three hot wires yet. I also don't know how to wore the pots together.
