  1. Here you go, Dont laugh. I learned alot about ergonomics, and unnecesary design flaws with this one!
  2. Thats another problem! where do I put the pre-amp? Better yet, can I get away without it? (Kinda doubt it) As far as eq, I used a fishman on an acoustic I built that I liked, but ...same problem. Where does it go? Seems like alot of extra gear for an electric guitar.
  3. I have an Idea for a jazz guitar, that is basically a solid body guitar, with one humbucker in the neck, and a bridge with a bone-saddle, on an ebony bridge. Like an acoustic,(just the bridge) But Solid body electric jazz. The other addition would be a piezo pickup under the saddle. Am I wasting my time? Of course I would like to be able to blend the magnetic pickup, with the piezo, and other variations from there. I have seen those electric piezo systems, but the Idea is to use a bone saddle. Any input would be appreciated.
  4. I had a guitar come in for routine maintanance, and while it was here the client said the bridge pickup occasionally cut out on him. I only heard it do it once, and I thought it could be a short somewhwere. Of course, I couldnt find anything like that, but what I did see, was that the INSULATED hot lead from the pickup was sitting against the metal part of the three way switch. I moved it out of the way, and everything seems to work fine. I just didnt think something like that was possible, and Im worried that the problem may not actually be solved, but just isnt showing up now. Anyone ever had this happen?
  5. That's my kind of guitar! Blonde quilt and gold hardware FTW! The fingerboard on the first guitar you posted is really cool, is it macassar ebony?? I think it is gabon, or whatever other ebony is usually solid black. I think this piece is with the hartwood however. I have heard it is quite hard to find. I got lucky, and got it as a gift from a luthier friend of mine. I am not 100% sure however.
  6. Heres a couple.... Sorry about the glare in the first pic....
  7. I love layered bodies. I like to think that it gives me chance to blend the best qualities of each of the different types of wood... Tonally, I guess its up to debate, but visually the effect can be stunning.
  8. That is a beautiful bass! I love the shape. It all flows beautifully. the carving on the top makes it that much nicer.
  9. Thanks for the kind words guys. I really apreciate the encouragement. I have seen some really nice work on this forum already, in the short time I have been on here! I was kind of nervous to put up pictures of my work.I will post more, I just need to go through some of my pictures, and see what Ive got.
  10. Thanks Rick! I am certainly not a computer genious, so I had a friend come over and help me, using your suggestion. Ive got an account set up over at photo bucket, and hope to participate more in the future. But for now, I got those pictures up I wanted to .
  11. I actually built a stand out of 2 by 4s and put a swivel hanging down, that attaches to a bolt i put through the tuner hole. This way, I am able to spin the guitar freely, without touching it. I just turn the swivel. I had the swivel alredy, and the lumber was also given to me. I use this rig all the time now. I added other attachments in other places for things like cover plates, and necks. It definately makes things easier
  12. Sorry, thought I had it figured out, apparently I jumped the gun. I think I need to do some more research. I will try to have them up soon though.
  13. I am new to this forum thing, so I guess I will use this to help me figure out how to do this. Here are some pictures of a guitar I finished in January 09. Tell me what you think.
