  1. I'm loading pics now.

In the meantime, all I have for clues is this : the bridge *looks normal and non-replaced. It's a typical FR licensed but the bridge studs adjust by a philips head slot on top -is that standard ESP or aftermarket? It does have a brass block underneath. Again, Stock or aftermarket?? I don't know ESP that well.

I have 3 other bridges here that fit just by dropping them in, but the intonation is the same on them all. Out by 1/4".

I have a speedloader bridge that will adjust to within 1/8"- but that's with the saddle hanging over the front a bit.

As for the measuring, it's been my livelyhood for over two decades now. I triple checked from both ways in disbelief, trust me.

John's the second owner of this guitar, and he's had it 20+ years now. I can't see why the guy before him would've put a correct radius bridge that was out that far. Or why John played it this way for so long!

Truly frazzled by it right now.

  2. O.k. . My friend John Lewis hands me this guitar at band practice last weekend. A real-deal mid-80's ESP M-1 custom! Asks me if I can 'fix' it.

FIX it. "Sure" was my overly confident reply......

It needed a cleaning and a setup.

    From what I could see.

The battery was still good in it so the EMG sounded nice when I fired it up- but MAN was the intonation shot!

I unplugged it and went about the grime removal it needed in spots but when I looked at the bridge real good, the saddles were as far forward as they'd go. :/

So, I took out the tape measure and found the scale length to be off by 1/4" ( like 8mm, i swear )

    It's a neck thru, with a non-recessed Floyd and 1 humbucker.

Are my only two options removing the FB and re-setting it OR move the bridge posts and pup further forward? Any other way around this mess?

I'll do up pics pronto, but I'm looking for opinions/theories ASAP.

Right now I have from nut to 12th fret -12 and 3/4" ___ from 12th fret to high E saddle 13" . THIRTEEN. No adjusting it anymore, and it's a neck-thru.

    Any ideers?

  3. Nice collection so far. I'm jealous- I wanted to do a body from a stump via chainsaw, but it won't be anytime soon. If you notice any pitfalls involved, give a yell. I just got 4+ acres and some of it has nice standing timber on it. I'll get to it one day, but definitely no time soon.

    Good luck with it.

  4. Aww, c'mon, Demon- you coulda noodled on it awkwardly. I know I would've! It looks like an amazing metal-strat ,even if it is built backwards. In all seriousness though- the paint, wood selection, electronics- all look stellar. 100% Pro :D

That Evil Tele couldv'e definitely fared better with more pics- it looks sweet from what I see!

I'm humbled to be getting votes amongst such stiff competition, although I certainly didn't expect them. I didn't get much feedback in the build thread, so I figured I'd get some here.

My own vote went to Bass for a friend, I love the home-madedness of it. Plus, it's from a root, extra cool points for utilizing what would be waste to most people.

That Acoustic by Verhoevenc is beyond great, burst or no- I'd love to own it.

The Black-snake tele is killer in its own smokey bar-room kinda way too.

That blue PRS looks so professional it's not even funny, and again- I'm humbled to be amongst such monster builders. Y'all set the bar HIGH. \m/ \m/ Horns up.

  5. So between remodeling shifts at the new place, I managed to snag a few shots of the headstock. I had it "inspected" and appraised at a music store in a nearby city- knowing they are a bit snippy - and they gave it great feedback and a higher estimate than I figured. I was surprised. Since I'm selling it in a local store, I wanted a third-party appraisal, so I knew how much to post it for.

    anyways- on to the headstock-

depending on the angle, that low E looks out worse than other angles....

    and here's the back -

  6. Hello,

    This is Patience.

    IMG_1855.jpg

I built this one with no templates or plans, and used chisels to accomplish most of the build including the truss rod rout, TR access hole, body shape, neck thickness and taper, headstock shape and topographic carve on the body.

    Specs are:

    Mahogany neck-thru w/

Maple stringers and Padauk wings / headstock

25.5 inch scale length with a bookmatched maple fretboard

    SM pyramid shaped frets

    1 bucker, 1 vol. ,1 tone

    Gold hardware

It has a pretty balanced tone, with a nice bright snap due to the maple fretboard. I posted a video of it in the build thread: http://projectguitar...showtopic=46128

  7. It blows my mind you did this without power tools. Great job man. How many hours you got on that puppy?

Thank you much, sir. I did use an electric drill for the holes i needed . :) I didn't keep track of my hours, but it took a year from start to finish, with life getting in the way where it does.

Muzz. i redid the logo with some gold, I'll post up a pic. The tuners are 'vintage correct' - you'll have that. XD

  8. and that's all you'll see from me for a while. We bought a house up the mountain from where we are now and we'll be moving come March. In the meantime, the few projects I have left are shelved until i get to set up my new workshop. [ happy dance] which, in turn ,will allow me to completely overhaul my building approach and give me a spray booth and a drying room. [continues happy dance]

So I will be taking what I've learned and incorporating it into a better structured build style.

I can resume building furniture too, which I used to do on the regular.

I'll post pics of the place once I'm in and spread out.
