He's following my posts and leaving passively derogatory comments because I suggested that sustainer people get along. *shrug* Whatever floats your boat I guess.
Nice guitar btw!
***?
Get over yourself.

Finally got a chance to try out the Diablo (bridge). I've got it loaded in a guitar that's in for some major work so, can't really give a full appraisal of the p'up but, what i heard, i liked. Perhaps a tad bright in this particular guitar (alder body, maple neck) but i'm sure a mahogany body will tame it. I'm currently working on a mate to try it out in his Gibbo LP.
The Diablo wails at high gain, harmonics just jump out from it. It cleans up quite nicely too. Certainly a p'up that will cut thru the mix. IMHO, It has a P90ish bite. The Diablo is extremely well made, minimal hum at gain and looks a million bux.
I think Brett is on to something good here. A very versatile pick up.

A remarkable transformation!
It turned the guitar from something I really liked to something I luuurve.
Excellent work.

Thank you. Could I use this "clone" for a year without substantial wear? When does the wear really start effecting tuning? And when I get a real fr, will it just be a "quick" switch, or will I have to route a bit more?
I just had a guitar in that was barely 3 months old and the knife edges were already notched and needed some serious filing.
It will get much worse much quicker from now on.
A genuine FR should be a drop in replacement in most cases, assuming you have a floating trem already.

If you angled the the body then the back 'wall' of the neck pocket would be cut with an angle in it as well.
Isn't that what you want though?
Otherwise you'd have a gap with the neck heel.

Tony Iommi's sound after 2001... That'd be my metal choice
I reckon Iommi nailed it on Technical Ecstasy, Moth.
His tone in the intro to Rock 'n' Roll Doc and his lead in Gypsy are to die for.

Ritchie Blackmore on the front pickup - any song.
Franny Beecher - Goofin' Around.

Ain't it fun. </GNR>
Not really, I have a headache now.

you know what i need right now.... another drink
I'll drink to that.......Sláinte.

you know what would be good for that?
put in a momentary push button on your guitar as a KILLSWITCH!
that would be sick!
Buckethead might be interested in that.

Block sand the ding and feather about 1/2" around it. Re-fill the ding if neccessary, then take the guitar to you nearest auto paint store and see if they will do a good colour match for you and take it home a paint it.
From the pic, It looks as though it is a matt finish with no clear coat so, you really should have little dramas with it.

I picked up an ESP 7 string today and the previous owner had filled in what was presumably a ding with some non-matching paint:
It only seems to be noticeable under certain lighting conditions. Is there anything short of sanding the whole guitar down and refinishing that I can do?
As the guitar is a solid colour, you could easily do a spot repair/patch up.
Colour matching may be a bitch but, you will end up with it looking much, much better than it is.

Here's the switch I was talking about.
Any help would be appreciated.
Bill
What will you be using the switch for phase reversal, coil tap?
