  1. I caught the GOTM reference ;-)

You'll most likely need to drop fill with a solid colour (spray paint in the lid and dropfill with a toothpick or cocktail stick) that matches, although replacing clear is more difficult. Some finishes can be reflowed to disguise cracks IIRC, although if a chip of the colour is missing then you're between a rock and a hard place.

    Pics?

That sucks. I couldent get the scratches out of my SRV, The finish went to hell when I tried ha ha ha :D .

We need some pics here. & a spec on the guitar. What model, what year. The finishes can vary. Some of the modern models have poly base coats & nitro top coats. Some are al poly. THe repair will depend on what you have.

  2. I'm down for the Eb. too. And I assume you, there is NOTHING wrong tonally with a black limba and maple body with a black limba and ebony neck. Heck, that's about as pretty dang close you can get to the mahogany/maple/ebony formula without using actual mahogany.

    Chris

Prety much my ultimate recipe there. Black limba back & neck. Maple top & ebony board :D .

  3. Araldite 2 part epoxy. Now yer talkin. Iv seen that stuff used to seal up damaged engine blocks - & then run for 15000 miles.

The poly is good if there are no gaps, but for these rods you need an adhesive with a little capacity to fill a void.

I use a similar epoxy from Araldite, They call it "Liquid Steel" ha ha ha.

  4. So you think its still possible to achieve really low action and no buzz on a compound board?

Definitly. I used compounds on a few JS stlyed wood porn-guitars I built for a local dealership. There was barley enough room to get a business card under the first 2 frets, Held the card there. At the 20th fret the action was about 2.5mm. Its all about the set up & the contidtion of your neck, board & frets.

  5. seriously cool stuff. looks better than your ibanez !!.

Iv been meaning to do one of these, but in titanium white, antique ivory & silver or chrome. Cant find a good silver anywhere always crappy lookin kinda grey. Have a nice Korina body all ready to go almost a year now, buggin the crap outa me.

You goin with green pups on this ? like the original below it ?

:D thanks, I made that one from scratch. I know logos are a contentious issue, but the logo & ibanez tick are so much part of the look along with the grip & claw, that the headstock shape just doesn't look right to me without one. If I had some sort of thermal printer/cutter it might be different though.

HA HA HA Even more cool so. keep up the work man, I had no idea that was a fake :D !!!!.

but I wouldent go putting the Ibanez logo on many things. could get ugly. I cant see them letting the amount of reproduction Jem & RG bodies out there go for much longer. Be pullin a fender soon enough, u know, authorised replacement parts from a few pricey parts houses.

But still. Realy cool work man.

  6. I love it great job, must have been tricky on all those contours

you know what would look hot...some lipstick humbuckers

no idea what they sound like though

Hmmmm. thats not a bad idea. Even if the chrome is very pronounced, it at least will look a bit different. Anybody know how these things stack up tone wise ? they have to have some life. dull, flat uninteresting voicing is an absolute NO for me.
