  1. Does anyone know of a company that makes these and where i can buy some? thanks
  2. from one pole piece to the next its 10mm ← So then the overall spacing would be 50mm then? And 50mm= 1 31/32 inches so i guess 2 inch would be closer.....
  3. I just bought a set off of ebay and since i dont have them yet and i want them covered, does anyone know the pole piece spacing? Thanks
  4. Ok, so i just put together a maple bodied bolt on neck Flying v. I had not planned on doing it but i was looking around on ebay and i stumbled across a v body that i ended up winning for 28 bucks. Anyway i put it together with parts that i had around here and the pickups that i had were humbuckers from a Saga LP kit. They sound bad, the neck is extremley muddy and the neck is shrill but very powerful. What i am looking for is: 1. A vintage type sound that is perhaps a little hotter. 2. Preferably an Alnico 5 magnet 3. It must have a nickle plated cover(the guitar has a mirrored pickguard and looks quite good with nicle covered pickups) Please tell me what pickup would do this for me. I dont care what brand either. Also i should mention that the guitar is wired with 250k pots, so please keep that in mind. What i am thinking of right now is using a SD Seth Lover in the neck and a Golden Age overwound from StewMac in the bridge, what do you guys think? Thanks!
  5. Are your pickups very close to the strings on the low e side? If you get single coils too close to the strings the magnetic field will pull them out of tune.
  6. Basically i really want to make sure the maple body doesnt make the sound too bright. Is their any other downsides to using 250k pots besides it loosing some highs? After some thought i have decided to go with a master volume and 2 tone controls so i guess neither will work for me,but thank you for responding!
  7. This is going to be my first time wiring from scratch,my previous 2 projects were Saga Kits and i need some advice. The guitar that i am putting this into is a flying v made of all maple, i hadnt really planned on it but i stumbled onto it on ebay with an hour left, the final price was very good(26.00) and i also realized that i had a 24.75 bolt on neck, some humbuckers and a bridge that is just collecting dust. I want to make sure it isnt too bright so this is what i came up with. I went to Stew Mac and i saw a kit that was for Jazz Basses or any 2 pickup guitar. If i add a switch would this be a good kit for me? Also for pots i am going to go with 250k's but i am not really sure about which capacitors i should use. Do you guys have any advice? Do you guys have any recommended reading for wiring guitars? Thanks in advance!
  8. Im not entirely sure what i would use for the back. I came across a Strat style body on ebay that used Marupa(which i have no idea what would sound like) for the back and cedar for the top, and that got me thinking" What would cedar sound like?" and "What the heck is Marupa?" Thanks for responding.
  9. Does anyone have any experience with using cedar in a electric? Any idea?
  10. What kind of sound would i get out of a guitar made of marupa? This would be for a solidbody electric. Thanks
  11. Thank you. I already found the parts needed and have been playing it. I am very happy although i had to spend a bt more than i wanted to on the parts needed. Saga it seems,at least on my guitar, drills the hole for the stud at about 3/4 of an inch for the bridge,so it took a little looking around for the right parts. I will continue to tell everyone i know about the "service" of Torres. Never will i buy from them again.
  12. The guitar is painted and finished, because i bought the parts i needed. Still the told me they were going to send it to me and they havent.
  13. So i am sitting here over a week later and do i have the parts from Torres? No I really really dont like this company.....
  14. Ive heard of them but never seen them... from what i remember and bare in mind this could be completly wrong... I think there good studio guitars (sure i read that a few bands have used them) Thats probably the most useless post ive wrote to date... ~~ Slain Angel ~~ ← Not useless at all. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
  15. I just recently came across a Flying v copy and according to its headstock, its made by Regal. I thought they just made resonators and Dobros. Has anyone ever heard of these? Thanks
