  1. I am curious also I just bought a warmoth body with a Mango top and I also would like some info. Tony..
  2. I am on a budget besides reading up on the history of this guy intregues me. Thanks for the suggestion though.
  3. I was looking to buy some pickups originally Fender SCN noiseless when I came across Bill Lawrance who apparently helped design them. I did a search and came across two Bill Lawence companies. One in California and one run by Bill and Becky Lawrence the ones I am interested in. Anyone here use them? The model number is L-280.
  4. I am going to assemble my first guitar. I purchased an unfinished body from Warmoth. It is Alder with a Mango wood top. Any ideas on how to finish the top. Someone told me that Mango doesn't stain very well. I am a complete newbe to woodworking so any suggestions on finishing the top would be appreciated.
  5. [ Tony -- I was just pointing out the Warmoth site for the info they give. Yes, they're expensive. Remember, the string path (nut, neck, fretboard, bridge, pickups and their setup) factors VERY strongly in guitar playability. Also, these are the pieces of the guitar that are dealing with the string tension, etc. So ... I don't think there are any inexpensive necks out there, unless you watch eBay for good deals. -- joe ←
  6. I recently purchased a Yamaha SE-203 strat clone off E-bay. The body and tuners are good but I find the neck is a little narrow. My son has a Yamaha Pacifica 821R and his fretboard measures 44mm at the nut, mine is 39 or 40mm at the nut. Also the fretwires are worn in the first few positions. I would like to change the neck. Mighty Mite has strat replacement necks for reasonable prices. My guitar has 22 frets but what other information do I need to have in order to buy the right one? What problems may I run into? I noticed that necks come with jumbo, medium jumbo etc. frets. Is this refering to the height of the fretwire or the width of the frets? I found this wesite and now I am interested in doing some modifications perhaps a custom paint job. This seems like a good place to start. Any help would be appreciated. Tony..
  7. I have very little experience with electric guitars but I was looking to change pickups in a Yamah SE 203 that I just bought off E-bay. I found pickups made by Evans. I saw that their endorsers are Colin James and Randy Bachman. If you have any Colin James CDs you will hear that that his tone is very clean. Thay aren't cheap. There are sound bytes on the web page so you can hear what they sound like. http://www.synapticsystems.com/studios/evans/evans.htm
