  1. The amp is a (tube) peavey ultra 212. I actually have 2 wahs vox and dunlop. For distortion I am going for the mxr full bore metal. And for reverb I am currently bidding on the holy grail reverb by electro harmonix. Now for other stuff, my mind is blank.

    Noise gate?

    Compression Sustainer?

    Eq?

Please enlighten me on what exactly these do, and what are some good brands?

I play (at least try to) blues-jazz-metal/prog. metal(a bit ambiguous)-christian worship music.....all around

  2. I'm beginning my pedal collection now, starting with a dd7. I'm bidding on a Holy Grail Reverb, and a compression sustainer.

I'm looking to pickup the mxr full bore metal pedal as well.

Anyone have suggestions on what to add? And where to get a decently priced board?

  3. A friend of mine got inspired by my build and decided to build a body. He has the skill level to do, and the dedication. And for his first project it seems that he will be taking on quite the task.

His goal is an Ibanez Saber.

I like the look of this one, so I'll be trying to push him towards the fade+faux binding.

The main problem that I can see is routing/?sanding? the top.

Does anyone have any experience making a top like this?

I would really like to help my friend out.

ps; he is french/stubborn, so he won't settle for any less than his original plan.

IT BEGINS WITH A BLOODY S!!!!!!

  4. Like I said, stupid midnight shift! No progress but parts....

    http://s745.photobucket.com/albums/xx96/Un...nt=P1000611.jpg

Quick story about the parts; Ordered my switch and pots from rsguitarworks. When I ordered, the 500k "super" pot , as well as the 500k push/pull pot; the site said it was out of stock (I expected they would back order or something).......When parts came in I recieved a 250k push/pull pot and a 500k "super" long shaft pot. They said I got what I ordered....not true. Now, to return them for the right parts I have to pay around a total of 35 dollars for reshipping and restocking fees. I really just want this done so I don't mind paying, but now they won't/taking a very long time, returning my emails.

I'm going to glue it up one of these days.....no days off for 10 days

  5. A guy near me is selling his head and cab for $900. I have been playing out of a spider 2 30 watt for the past while and have been wanting a tube amp for a while.

I would use this for shows; mostly metal.

My guitar (as of now), has an evolution bridge and paf neck and its a mohagany body with a maple cap, maple neck/ebony fretboard.

Would this amp be a good buy for me?

  6. So, my guitar teacher went to a private factory tour of prs. While there he asked how the "grain pop" is achieved and described what I told him about the black dye and sanding and stuff; what I learned from this forum. They said they don't do that, but rather its the grain filler that they use that creates the finish.

Can anyone enlighten me on what they are talking about?

  7. Headstock has been designed...

    My parts have finally started to come in;

The Floyd Rose is very nice, has a brass tone block and came with everything except the locking nut. So I'll be ordering an R4 asap.

A few hickups now; my knobs are for solid shafts and I believe I ordered split; will this be much of a problem? I could always stick a strip of thin sheet metal into the splits....

I once saw a site where it shows how many shims to place under your FR saddles to adjust the radius; does anyone know the site?

Pictures of my new parts will come soon!

  8. A few pics:

The wood (maple cap is in the mail)

    The design

I'm torn between 6 in a line or 3x3 for the headstock/tuners. Judging by the design, what would be more complimentary?

The bridge, truss rod, and frets are also in the mail and I'll be ordering the rest of the parts on September 4th (pay day)

  9. make excuses to do it, not, not to do it!

    j/k :D

I gotta do it because I hate my acoustic(wwe never got along). I gotta do it because my other guitar isn't holding its tune as well as she used to. I gotta do it because chicks dig red guitars. I gotta do it because my last guitar I was building got lost in a move....it must be avenged!

  10. I don't have a camera to take photos but, pics will be posted soon.
