I was thinking that you should definitely go for the carve, but then the pics loaded. Maybe just giving it a 1/4 radius and some tung oil would be good, or even a binding. The guitar looks great but I would only carve it if their was a nice figured cap. There is plenty more that will do this guitar justice.

Something that I admire about Jack White is that he progresses.....I always see his skills progressing in each album he comes out with. Some musicians just settle with a skill that they can market; and market the s#!* out of it...cough cough kirk cough......

To me a guitarist or any musician for that matter is more influential when they continue in their musical studies.....A mighty fine example is my favourite guitarist; John Petrucci.....His skill is always progressing....well sometimes just speeds up

but thats just my opinion....

And one more question for the road;

My pickup pole-piece spacing is 1cm or .4 inches. The string spacing on the low profile fr is the same. The question is.....

*Will the neck pickup's pole-pieces still line up with the strings? I'm thinking yes but will not order the floyd until I am 100% certain.

Okay, I have installed a fr on my other guitar but it is not fully floating. My next guitar I would like it to float. I'm sure floydrose.com has the info I need but its under construction.

So before I ruin a perfectly good body blank....a few questions

1. Does my neck need to have an angle?

2. Does anyone know where to get some plans?

I am by no means an expert on this and would greatly appreciate help--i dont want to mess up.

Can someone quickly type a checklist or something to make sure I don't miss anything?

I had thought about using the shims, but wanted to see if there was a different option.

I bought a really cheap Chinese FR a while back and it obviously needs replacing! So I might buy the stewmac floyd rose and test it out....but this won't be for some time.

So, I planned on buying the OFR from beyond eleven.....but then I checked out guitar fetish......

Then I realized that Beyond Eleven only offers ofr based on a 10" neck radius; mine is 14!

The schaller version does have the 14" and I checked out guitar fetish and their price really...."spoke" to me .

Does anyone know another place I can get a 14" neck radius fitting FR?

And is the guitar fetish FR any good?

A side question; I'm making my first mahogany neck this summer, with an ebony fretboard; non-angled. Will there be any strength issues that I should be aware of?

with a truss rod it will be fine - preferably quatersawn mahogany though, or my preference would be to laminate it.

there may be some natural movement anyway but it can be controlled easily with a tone sucking truss rod

I think it's flatsawn. If I cut it into three pieces and flip the middle piece; will this resolver my issue? I don't want to add any different species of wood.

I remember reading a post on a guy that had router bits that cut out a lot of tedious fretboard work.

The bits are to radius your fretboards, and I would really like to invest in one! But, does he still make them; or anybody else that has them?
