  1. whats the matter? I have a custom dark blue -> aqua Les Paul with FOUR humbuckers! yes, just to amaze people...
  2. hi anyone who's reading this. I'm finishing my Les Paul body and, I got a Varnish or Lacquer can (I don't know the word, damn Brazil! ) and it says that one of the composts is Polyurethane. Does it give a good finish?
  3. I'm finnaly making my guitar! A custom Les Paul! Now, what is the ideal thickness of the body? Mine is 2" exact, no carving on the top...
  4. geez, is he dumb? sorry, can someone tell me how the truss rod works? I mean, when I turn it to one side, it bends or what? thanx
  5. thanx for now! please dont answer my signature...
  6. hmm, it would be very heavy yes, the Pink Ivory...
  7. spanish cedar would be hard too, specially because I'm a little lack of money but a last question: is Ivory good for necks? thanks until here!
  8. hey luthiers on night shift! I'm going on my first guitar and, ok, everything planned, size, measures, finishing, etc... but, I can't afford woods like Mahogany, Maple, Spruce or any of those (specially Mahogany since it is forbidden on Brazil). Does anyone here ever used Pinus on guitars? Is it good for the neck? Thanx and c ya!
  9. dont worry, and welcome to the world of customizing guitars now, if the humbucker can be attached to the body just with its two screws, then you don't need a ring (at least for me).
  10. hey, try out in a cheap wood before! the notches you mean are these carves in the inside part? these (by my known) are a space for humbuckers to be attached directly on the body I think. wait for other people to reply. c ya
  11. no no no no no, you cleared it! thanx a lot man! now I can make my P90 to work. thanx and c ya!
  12. hmm, maybe you're talking about the 'mini humbuckers' I so much love (humbuckers of the size of a single coil pickup, no pole pieces, but a steel bar in their place). check www.projectguitar.com, in the Eletronics section there is a list of wirings, then just take a HB or a mini HB one. anything just ask! c ya
  13. yes, almost there. the pole pieces just touch the magnets, ok. the coil wire: then the two points I talk about go to the LEAD wire (that will go to the selector or anything like that...)?
  14. it solved one doubt, but the main question still remains. here's a draw of what I mean: ................................. | | ................................. :::::::::::::::::::::::: lets pretend that this is a pickup from front view... (jesus... is he drunk?) now, the ':' is the ground or base plate, and the vertical bars are the sides of the coil. the coil have two points: where you beginned to wind and another where you finished the wind. where they go? I have to attach them to the pole pieces or something? thanx (but I think I still didn't made it clear )
  15. hi, I'm kinda confused. Ok, I bobined a pickup as a P-90 (10000 turns... yes, took a long...) but now i dont know: where goes one extremity of the bobin? in the poles, magnetsm where? and the other extremity? thanx
  16. thanks for the attention! I'll try to get the poly, but I live in Brazil, so, may be a little tough to get it thanks!
  17. hi! i'm lack of money, and the only thing i can reach is varnish. does anyone used it and got a good finish? comments please. thanx .
  18. hehe, thanx everyone. yes, I thought about the V too but I'm a big Maiden fan, and since Adrian used a Explorer you guys can understand me uh, does anyone ever used varnish for finishing? thanx
  19. hello everybody! i'm going to make my first guitar, and, since i'm a little lack of tools, i thought Gibson Explorer would be a nice start, since it don't have any curves does anyone already built it? is it worth? thanx
