nop, neck shape is just the shape of the back. I live in the East end of glasgow btw. Let me know if you need any help finding stuff in the uk, i am about a month or 2 ahead of you in my build and know pretty much where to get everything.

A compound radius fingerboard is quite a big harder to do. It does not change the shape of the neck in anyway, it is simple the curvature of the fingerboard. Unless you dead set on one, avoid it and just do a 12 or 16" radius. It will really save a headache for you. I am for glasgow btw.

How robust is that type of finish david? If your typical jazzer spilt his malt whiskey over it, would the alcohol make it melt? It is a beauty.

Well thats i want to do, but if you need someone to plane square all the sides for you on a big machine you dont have and the guys on vacation then you need to wait! Guess who's in that situation?

Some godin electrics have recessed strat type trems and that looks pretty good imo.

Neck thru's present another problem that no one has talked about, that i am experiencing with my build is that if you cant get the one part of done for some reason then your less likely to be able to do another part of the build. You cant go ahead and complete the body (inc Finishing etc) if the neck is still a bunch on laminates for example. Do a neck thru if u like, it does mean you dont have to cut a neck pocket.

I seen a nut made of granite once! Thats black. I dont know how the guy cut it though. Nice work.

I would imagine you could wire it just like a tele diagram, its the same pup selections essentially. I would use 500k's.

Ebony with Maple binding, i have put a few coats of tung oil on the maple to stop bleeding from the ebony. If you wanna make a fingerboard quickly dont use maple for binding!

I have busy with a lot of repairs recently and ain't had much time to work on it. Will do soon

Wait till you have the frets in to see whats needed, remember that the frets are 2mm high plus your action which will be about 2-3mm too so as long as it is not 6 mm or something u will be ok.

I dont have acess to a band saw and i dont reckon i would be able to store one in my kitchen cause thats were it would need to go! I could get a scroll saw and be able to pack it away when i am done, it may take 20 mins to cut a body out but its gonna take me longer if i use a coping saw! What sort of power etc would i need?

right cool, i have one of the rods and i got the the router bit too, should a little bit of silicon be used in the middle to stop them hitting off each other?

I read the stew mac fact sheet about Hot rods and was kinda confused about what silicon to use, is it the common sealer stuff you use in windows etc? Whats it purpose? Why dont you just epoxy the ends in place?

Just join the spare tag(unused one) on the switch to the tag on the 2nd tone pot, the same one that the middle pup is hooked onto. Viola!

Isn't fretwire the cheapest part of a guitar build anyway? I've never been unhappy about the price of it, i get it at about 9 feet for around £4. Only con i can think of with precut packs is that you make a mark on bit of it and only have enough to do one guitar your &$^$ed!

Just cover the hardware in vinegar and let it dry out, i dont know what it does to chrome but it sure ages gold and nickel! As for the plastic parts just roll them in the dirt and kick them about, rub steel wool over them and spill a lot of tea everywhere!!

Looks fairly easy tbh. Just dots with a 2 lines wiggling through it. I wouldnt worry about copying it exactly, its such an uncommon inlay that you are never likely to meet someone who has a real one

I'm sure its very suitable for making a guitar with, Golden, silver etc are just sort of common names for specific species of tree and i wouldn't pay much attention to it. Its ASH! I would get it sawn and re-sawn into suitable planks and see whats what, then check the weight. Nice to have a guitar made from a tree you used to climb. Kinda romantic!

I dont know how many brand new Gibsons i have fret dressed over the years, its quality control rather than them being seconds. I have never heard of gibson selling seconds.
