never mind then,i like to research days on end without reading anything
-
hi all,i've been searching and read a lot of chrome topics, each all refering to this
well soon i am going to buy an ibanez 350dx.its bassically looks like a jem with no handle or gold hardware.
was planning on stripping it down, mybe painting it white again, but in mettalic,or possibly a chameleon colour.but i really like the chrome idea
so i'm in the uk,and have searched for 2 days straight, and so far alsa corp looks the best.but are there any company's wich privide cheap spray cans of the stuff?i would rather spend about £50-£70 rather than £350,only to find that both will distort and crack, plus stripping down the cheap stuff and spraying again/trying new colour wont hurt.
and has any1 in uk tried chroming wood?
thanks

that side way type rack sounds cool, have it like on sliders,so u slide a guitar out...hey,maybe with a little work u can voice enable certian guitars to automatically slide out, eg''les paul''
or the slidey thing would work to lol
-
i have just got a flat pre-slotted board,and i see wat u mean,dont want a 5mm D hole through the back :S lol
and i'm doing les paul style blocks in purple heart, and a mother of pearl triangle,simple...ish.will still work on idea's tho, thanks for advice,
-
ok,got my ebony fretboard a few days ago
.should i put the inlays in before i join the fretboard or after its on...or does it matter...or...doesn't it matter?
thanks
-
like watever dude!
lol.just thot it'd be better than starting a new topic
-
i see,so about 2 or 3 eights of an inch,depending on fretboard thickness,k,thanks
i have an idea for a bass i'm making,a mix of purpleheart inlays and mop, simple design, but effective...i hope :O lol
-
imo an oil finish, cause u can still stroke and feel the wood wen its finished with oil
.
-
cSuttle:
you said that all the problems could be fixed by sealing the fretboard,i'm assumiong that polyeurothane would work, but what about an oil finish?
-
theres www.craft-supplies.co.uk
i just ordered a pre slotted ebony fingerboard from them.
-
truss rod cover...got ya
i like the mt-4 best,a subtle design, for metal players and jazz bassits alike
very nce

i get wat u mean now,my grain is open like a hookers legs after she has been looked in a room for 10 years!lol.tho it was bought cheap,so i guess its not common for it to be that open, its filled now.i like that sceme anyway of colours, even if that guy thinks strat bidges curve, and make strat evolve into flying v's,its a pretty good scheme.
edit:have choosen woods for simaler style.purpleheart for the middle.the alder stripes, then walnut for the wings.should look good, rather than having a blue burst alder body as planed lol
-
i tried reading the description, but it was forign.theres the body then the veneer, maybe it ment that the actual body is alder.
i see wat u mean by it being stained.but alder has way more pores than that,my jazz body has loads of pores, and i have a blank wich is alder, wich has less, but its still way more than the pic :s
this is all in my opinion, and i generally get things wrong lol.but it sorta has that smoothness like rosewood, rather than the porus alder.but i'm still interested on what it is,it looks good for a cowboy builder lol
so its walnut down the middle?after studying this picture,i have came up with a whole new colour scheme lol
-
can anyone tell me what type of veneer this is?i'm meaning the 2 dark pieces at either side
i'm making a six string j-bass like that,,and it took me months to find the perfect combonations of wood and colour...now i see this i like the wood
thanks
oh,and that strat is petty bad...i could make better :O lol
-
thank you,
-
i have just ordered an 6 string bass fretboard in ebony.so i thot about maybey staining the neck black, then adding a satin finish ( http://www.warmoth.com/paint/paint.cfm?fuseaction=necks )
will the satin finish seal the dye?will i have black hands?
-
have u seen basslab.de bass's,they have really nice painted fretboards,crazy has hell body's tho,awsome!
-
that material tutorial...would would it work with paper?bleed proof paper?i would say print it off,but then theres the whole pixel thing
-
from tabo aswell?
are there any pics?
-
wow, much better than what my string bass will turn out,and i was thinking of doing a multi-wood fret board, but simpler, just maple and ebony, that is really good,i dont think anyone can explain how beutifull that is without using so many emoticans that it freezes your computer,i guess ur proud?lol.
-
a bo-diddly
tis easy
-
