  1. Does anyone know of a copy of the delux fender contoured neck plates? The genuine fender ones are a complete rip-off on ebay!!! Cheers, Chris
  2. Yeah i used your strat tutorial to install the sperzels, was a definate help, i may get the stew mac jig for future guitars, its a shame sperzel don't number their tuners, would save time when compared to measuring the individual hights. chris
  3. Its kool i've installed them now and they fit and look great! thanks for the advice! Cheers Chris
  4. When installing a staggered set of sperzels, how do you tell which tuner is for which string, are is just lowest to highest? as in shortest sperzel for bottom e and highest sperzel for top? Thanks Chris
  5. Ok, thats great, I thought that finishes for guitars might be differently balanced is all, is there anything I should watch out for when buying from non-instrument specialist suppliers? Thanks Chris
  6. Does anyone know of any good guitar/instrumental finishing suppliers in the UK, company's that specify in guitar finishing would be ideal such as a UK Reranch. Thanks Chris
  7. I have a pre-routed body and am not sure on the best way to find the centre-line, I know how to place the neck with the bridge installed but do you not measure up the bridge (in this case a two point trem) using the guitars centre line? (the neck is mighty-mite and fits nice and tight however from looking at it i believe it maybe a very little of centre with the body), Thanks Chris
  8. Hi, simple question here, What are the most ideal drill bits for drilling hardwoods such as mahogany, maple and rosewood. I'm not making many guitars so I don't think I need a perticuarly pro set but also i don't want to ruin the guitar by using cheap tools. So should i get carbon steel or will high-speed drill bits suffice. Thanks Chris
  9. I've fitted the neck as well now, the body i'm using is pre routed and the neck join doesn't match the neck shape exactly and so it doesn't go in all the way, there's about 3mm empty clearance between the neck and the pick up side of the pocket, is this normal. Other than that its a very tight fit! Thanks Chris
  10. Ok, thats a great help, thats definately what i'm looking for! However, which one do you think gives the best access as they differ somewhat, the fender one looks nicer but which one would offer the best reach? Thanks Chris
  11. Hi, i'm building my first guitar, it's a strat and I want to give it a more accessable heel. I was wondering if this is possible on a strat like on the http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/heal.htm - tutorial. and if so can i do it with a standard strat neck? Also how do you go about measuring where the screws should go as they are in different places than if using a standard neck plate? Body = Mahogony Neck = maple No holes are drilled yet! Regards Chris
