Im trying to refinish a strat using the how to paint your guitar book from www.paintyourownguitar.com, Ive wet sanded the clear with 1500 grit paper and now i need to apply 3M Perfect-It Finishing Compound to complete the project, Only problem is that i dont know where to purchase it within the UK.
Does anyone happen to know where i can get some, If not, could you recommend what product to use instead of the 3M stuff.
Cheers

I Have an LTD EC-1000 Guitar which are fitted with EMG 81 and 60 pickups, i would like to install the zakk wylde set but im unsure if i have the knowledge to do this. I Took out the pickups from the body (not de-soldered) and it seems they just have a simple 3-pin connector at the back of the pickup, is it possible to just unplug the stock installed 81's and 60's and plug the ZW Pickups in or will i have to solder everything again ?

ok i have sanded it and painted yellow, do i have to sand the yellow and then paint on black or do i not have to sand the yellow and go straight onto painting the black?

hi, i have sanded and primed my squire strat so its now very smooth and very white, i want to end up with this design for the body http://www.rocknrollvintage.com/prodimages/05%20evh%20b.jpg, to do this i will spray the whole body yellow and then put tape down to make the stripes, spray black and take of the tape so i have a black body and yellow stripes. Is this the correct way to make the design??
also two more questions,
1) what type of tape should i use, because wouldnt some just take paint of?
2) i have brought a spray can of "plasti-kote ployurethane varnish- satin" to spray at the end of the project is this stuff OK?
sorry for all the questions but i need to be sure.
thanks.

i have checked the back of the tube and it says it is for plaster, wood, masonary and stone, as i am quite cautious i tried a little hole and it worked fine so i dont think that it will cause much hassle, but if you have any tips on filling please give
cheers

cheers guys, i have used a heat gun and got rid off all the paint and there are no burn marks or darkening of the wood so i think that is was successful the only thing is, i have removed practically all of the black paint but underneath it is this green coat and i dont know how to get that off without burning the wood, maybe some paint stripper will do the job?
i shall post some pics to show you how it looks now and hopefully peeps can gimme some pointers
BTW:i used to use LOTS of aerosol cans for purposes and i know loads of brands, does any body know if montanas would be good?
cheers for all the help!

hey guys, i have a black squire stratocaster that i wanna compltley redo the finish and i have read all of the guides and they have REALLY helped and was wondering if this is the best way of doing stuff:
1)use a paint stripper and apply layers and use a plastic scrapper to remove and do this numerous times
2)use some light sandpaper and sand off the remaining bit of paint until it is just a wood body
3)use a laquor and give the body a couple of coats of it
and that is where i get lost?????????
i am using poor mans spraypaint and i am using plasticote stuff, what type of aerosol can do i need and do i have to base the body in white primer?
sorry for all the questions its because i really wanna get this right
cheers guys
