  1. Dude the wire running from volume IS the ground wire. Switches don't really change unless it has more places to switch to, they all work the same way. There are ones like the super switch which allow a lot more switching possibilites. If the pickups are the sametype as your current ones there shouldnt be any problems. if it is strat style just wire the ground wires to the top of the v pot and the other wires to the ame positions on the switch as your old one.
  2. very nice, but it sucks for me. being foreign and all that. Anyone in aus used warmoth, im wondering how the stuff gets delivered and what sort of fees will be applicable when recieved.
  3. it is all grounded properly, because i used my other strat to check, i cant find a problem with the multi
  4. danish oil is nice to use on necks, youll have to redo it after a while though
  5. Im looking at the mockingbird bass body form warmoth. Does anyone have a good history wih them. Will they work with any neck or will i have to buy a warmoth one also. Ive been thinking of getting a lacewood laminate top on korina, Good combination? Is there a point having a bass tremolo, i play mostly rhcp stuff and a bit of primus.
  6. I dont understand how to do the rest of the burst though, do i use dyes or solid paint?
  7. I built a strat using different parts and i wired it up correctly in accordance with the seymour duncan wiring page. However now i can feel electricity running through the wires and there is a really loud buzzing noise through the amp. Does anyone have any idea how i can fix it, have i burned the pots or anything like that?
  8. OK, I have built a les paul custom style body out of alder. I have sanded it perfectly and filled the grain. Now i am looking to get a good old cherryburst finish for a relatively cheap amount. I have searched as much as i can in these forums and on other websites but i can't undestand how to do the burst finish so i have a few questions. What sort of paints can i use to do this, e.g spray and what colors?(if possible list Places in australia, but not too important) What is the basic process of doing this, please make this as detailed as possible because remember, i am a beginner. What sort of finish do i put on it, last body i finished turned out terribly. How can i aplly this so it looks nice. Where can i get a CUSTOM (note that word, don't rip my head off!) Headstock decal for a standard LP custom head in australia? I only want a fairly simple design. Finally i was just wondering about where i could find p-90 soapbar pickups in australia, and for what sort of cost. please reply soon
  9. Dude do not put too much in the connecting joint, depending on whether you have a bolt on or not, if you do the preferable amount is none so try and mask off just the invisible bit, the part you cant see when its in the socket.
  10. yep, ill think about it. unrelated to that bass will the fender style bass bridge cover fit basically all of those style basses, caus i have an aria bass and i think it would look a lot cooler with one
  11. does anyone know of a parts supplier in australia that supplies wood and hardware? im trying to go for mahogany or basswood, are these any good for basses. Also are there any good tutorials on building necks because the neck building tutorial page wont load for me on projectguitar.com Im planning on a through neck, by the way
  12. i have decided to use mahogany for the body, just to let you know found out where i can get some good quality cheap stuff. are there different types of bass bridges for 4 string or are they generally the same
  13. HI, im planning to build a body for a bass, in particular a gene simmons axe style bass. I need to know of a lightweight, easy to work with wood that is fairly cheap . I was also wondering, if i use the distance from the nut of my current neck to the bridge and cut the new body and put the bridge the same dist i could just then put my neck on the new body and it should be fine right? I know he has a kramer aluminum neck but i dont want his bass, i just want the style. Please help, ive never built a bass b4
  14. ok, basically the intonation is good, but the strings will not tune to the normal eadgbe, they will only tune an octave higher. I am trying to get normal tuning but the strings become to loose and just make that vvvvvvvv sound, how do i fix it
  15. I have refinished my guitar, sanded, painted and glossed my guitar but now that it is back together it just wont let me tune the strings poperly, i can only tune the deep e an octave higher than normal, also the intonation is perfect(or close to) what can i do to fix this.
