  1. craig, that website is amazing, i havent drawn a plan yet (huge fan of intricate planning, one too many screwups at film school) its all in the conception stage. i dont have anything close in my art books. these the closest things i can find one two three the most complicated also if you type mexican skull into yahoo image search, pornstar mary carey shows up. i was mainly wondering if anyone had tried pigmented laquer and if the grain of the inlay shows through. it really is tiny dots and wavy lines. thanks John thanks
  2. thanks i did use the search feature but nothing came up, i guess its a mix of experimenting with different methods, really want it all inlay, but bits the size of pinheads will be impossible,
  3. im currently developing an inlay design for a guitar im building, the idea is a painted skull (like the mexican sugar skulls) made from inlay on the headstock. stuff like teeth and also the eye pattern can be made from inlay however the intricate painting of dots and lines will be too difficult to cut. has anyone tried painting inlay before clear coat or (better yet) used translucent pigmented laquer (my guess is the shiny inlay would show through.) the laquer was my guess at the way to do it, but im proberbly wrong. has anyone tried this? is there a better way to do something like this? John
