hey i'm new to this so i didnt know there wasn't a formula, lay off and if everyone is anoyed by me asking stupid questions just stop looking at my posts!its that simple, there is no need to come in here and and make fun of my posts just because my intellect isn't as great as yours.

as for the luthier tools i dont count them. i plan on spending upwards of 2gs ontools but thats not how much a guitar costs to make thats just tools. look some personal info- i'm 18 and hope to go to roberto venn school of luthiery so i can do this for a living and all my cash goes toward my hobbies andcollections of musical stuff. may be if you all knew me you wouldn't second guess me.andi'm every good at building things soandi hope for a smooth ride but i'mprepairedthe wood didn't costmuch i think just for the neck(mahogon, purpleheart,wenge)itcost me $ 60 i got a really good deal on wood.

the bridge- 70 wood -100 (got the body for free) tuning machines-about 100 ferreules-12 fret wire-32 pickups-220 screws-20 electronics-30 other hardware- 40 glue-12 finishing 100(nott even) cavity covers- 12 nut-2 total $756.00 anything i forgot? ← Truss rod, router templates, router bits, clamps, glue, straight edges, brad point bits, sandpaper, saws, files, rasps, planes, surforms, scrapers etc. i am assuming you have all these already? ← yes i forgot the truss rod, but all the the tools are covered, have them already, my uncle is a wood worker and i already said glue!

yeah i think i got around 2 1/8 when i measured it ( i took a six string measured it and then a 7 string and then added the difference) but i saw jeremy(from lgm) said it was bigger than that on another 8 string thread.

look it will cost me less if i dont do fanned frets and use a hip shot bridge. and i'm not trying to be snotty i just want someoone to give me a link or tell me how to calculate the nut width and yeah i wont do fanned frets though i would like to. ansd i already have the neck wood and the pickups plus the body wood its all mahogany and a peice of wenge down the middle of the neck with a purple heart fret board so can someone please tell me or send me a link o0n how to calculate the nut width b/c i've already searched in theis forum for it. thanks malebolgia EDIT and i;m not being lazy i'm just trying to figure out how to do this and no one is helping me except the people trying to convince me not to do fanned frets.

Well if would have just done that search in the beginning like you should have, you wouldn't have gotten dumb responses. If you want help you need to do your heomwork first, and if there is nothing then ask, but asking and getting pissed that everyone doesn't stop what they are doing to do your homework and research is a bad idea. Also I'm pretty sure there is no way to use a normal bridge with ffs. FF require individual saddles to compensate for the scales of each string, so I hope you are planning on using some individual saddles, not a fixed bridge. Basically, you are going to have to use individual saddles in order to do the FF. At least thats what I thought. ← wut if the scales are only 1 -2 inches in difference? and i'm not even going to say a word on my behavior.

ohhh and i just did a search for the so called formula about calculating neck width and couldnt find a thing so if you happen to have a link to it or the formula it would help, yeah...

alright after much thought in the subject i decided that i will go with the hipshot 8 string bridge and i will still do fanned frets just this will make things alot easier. so how wide will the neck be if my string spacing is 2.962" i do beleive so could some one help me or jeremy form lgm help me with figuring out how wide the neck will be at the 24th fret and at the nut?.. and i might do fanned frets....IDONT KNOW YET!

my eight string will cost me $900 do you know where i can get an eight string for 900 b/c i would be very interested! and my opions are not badly founded i'm a metal head and fender just doesnt cut it so they are poop! no offence my design is orignal it may be in the bc rich style but it is completly different and i'm nothing like the dark star guy b/c (once again) the shape is the same! edit- and i never said my design would be nothing like anything ever seen so stop pttin words inmy mouth thanks malebolgia

look i just frown on guitars that are almost exactly the same as someone elses cant this dark star guy just make his own design and then carve it? why does he have to use bc rich designs b/c personally i just started this thread to see what jeremy form lgm would think b/c i resect him and all hand made guitar makers. and i also respect bc rich and all other major guitar makers(except fender b/c they are POOP) i just dont find it kool to copy anybodies designs and i know that compianies like esp and bc rich and others have copied fender and gibson, but i frown on them 2 thats why i decided to make my own guitar and the fact that 8 strings are too expesive and i would have replied but i looked threw his site and he calls it his own (can someone send me a link to where he says he's accualy carving a bc rich?) and metal matt i like you is just you came off cocky to me. and i dont like the carving thing. And for those who said that no one cares about me arguing... was i the only one arguing? and nitefly if i bought guitars and replaced the pickups and sold them commercially yes that is wrong. thanks, malebolgia

true that almost every gutar builder now a days copies the fender and gibson but yes the the design of the b.c. riches i can bet took alot of sweat and "blood" so you should stop being a pathetic little "i wana copy peoples stuff and not get in trouble for it" supporter so this is over b/c i dont like fights and you ar being ignorant! sorry no offence but really copying other peoples designs is crap! this is like the blue and violet scandle and i bet you support VIOLET! sorry i do like you and your help but this is crap!

this "dark star" builder is ripping off shapes from bc rich and just adding carvings to them.. i dont care about the carvings, that is soemone's (bc riche's) hard work and blood and sweat put into those designs and this guy is flat out stealing them! it just pisses me off!

I cant beleve that all you guitar builders are saying you want a guitar from a man that rips off styles.... i wish lgm was here to see this.... i think he would be dissapointed.....
