    Yep, the other pieces fit perfectly. I only have to make the piece for the cutaway and I can start to glue it up

    Woot! I found a curling iron for $19 at a drug store that heats up to 395 degrees and works perfectly! I have bent the binding for around the whole guitar, however, I'm having a load of trouble making the bend for around the cutaway (I did it in three pieces because one single wouldn't be long enough and I knew that I would have trouble with the cutaway anyways, so I did it this way to waste less wood). I've had the wood separate on the outside in all of my attempts... are there any tricks for making bends of this extreme tightness?

    I found a curling iron that has adjustable heat.. if it can get to 300-350 degrees on one of the settings, I'll try that and report my findings Same with my adjustable wattage soldering iron, though it's a little more primitive. We'll see what happens. Necessity is the mother of invention

    Hey all. I have maple binding that is to go around the top of my LP, but I was wondering what an inexpensive way to bend it would be? I don't have enough money to buy a bending iron... would it be possible to make one myself? GENIUS IDEA!! What about using a curling iron? Haha! Also, what are the steps to doing this? I know I shouldn't saturate the wood with TOO much water... or maybe I don't know that and just think that... any tips are appreciated I've never done binding before, and I heard that maple is the hardest to bend

    Hiscock's book is amazing. It covers all the bases within the three projects, as they're all completely different in each way. I highly suggest it, and it's not too expensive.

    Hey all. I'm trying to recreate this finish: I have birdseye maple binding instead of plastic and would like to make the binding a sort of rich honey natural finish. What materials will I need for the whole finishing process and what sort of techniques will I need to employ? I already have pore filler from my last project, the sort of pastey clear stuff.

    Hey all, I need to find a piece of maple binding (curly, quilted, or highly flamed) that's at least 54" long and two pieces at least 18" long for my project - http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.php?showtopic=32210 - can someone please point me in the right direction or assist me? I've checked eBay, and there are auctions for it, but only 32" long in lots of 10 I think a single piece would look better.

    Don't think so - the only thing I got from stewmac for this project so far is the truss rod :-P Warmoth sells a similar thing though, I believe

    Yeah, the top has some NICE figuring, especially on the outsides - it's sort of like waves that encircle the center of the guitar

    Bought it this way... good idea though, just have to find something that has a 90 degree angle and will support such doings :-P

    Anyone have any tricks or tips on getting a bookmatched top perfectly square so that you can't see a gap down the middle? I have a two-piece birdseye maple top that has a slight gap in it and want to get it perfect before gluing

    Neh, it's for a Les Paul. I've only routed the bottom part so far, and not the top yet. It's a non-issue, just got scared.

    Apparently my customer wanted P90 pickups on his guitar, but I didn't realize they were different size than humbuckers until just now, after I routed the template for a standard '58 Les Paul. How should I go about fixing this...? The top hasn't been routed yet. Also, how the hell do P90's stay in the guitar body? They don't use the plastic mounts like humbuckers do

    Quick question for those experienced with both: does using through-body string ferrules enhance/hinder the sound quality or sustain at all when compared to a stop tailpiece for tune-o-matic bridges?

    Tried them awhile ago as well. Dear Ryan, We are sorry to inform that our 1 piece Korina has been depleted. The closest thing we can supply in korina would be 2 piece glued Korina. Korina is a generally straight grained wood so seeing seams from a top view is difficult to distinguish, once it is sanded. If this cannot work for you and need 1 piece a few things we can supply in 1 piece is Alder and Mahogany at this time. Please let us know if we can help you any further. Best Regards -Angelo

    Yep, that was one of the first places we checked - but it has to be a single piece, they only offer 3-piece blanks.

    I need a 1-piece korina blank (preferably black) for a customer who's DEAD SET on using it, but I can't find it ANYWHERE! I must have gone through like 6 suppliers and they're all out! Anyone have any ideas? It's for a Les Paul design, by the way. Thanks in advance!

    My fretboard raises approximately 6mm from the neck - the floyd rose locking nut I have (R42) doesn't appear to be tall enough for that, as the fretboard raises just to the bottom of the slots for strings. What can I do about this? The fretboard is a compound radius one that I bought from stewmac :-\
