  1. 2 rods wouldnt be necessary, but i would definatly suggest using some form of reinforcement in the neck, with the 8 i was building, i had 2 carbon rods in it with a single truss rod, no problems (that is until my cousin got to my blank.....) as for pickups you have very few options, you can go with an emg bass pickup (which is an emg 85 in a bass housing actually) or you can go with duncan customs, and im not sure about dimarzio's (jeremy could tell you more, i havent checked with them on anything) also are you used to using extended fretboards because i can tell you, in most cases you will not be using those extra frets (i have a 28 fret neck one of my guitars, and thats as many as i need)

  2. Here is my dilema guys, I have all my plans completly done for my ironbird, everything is ready but im not sure how im going to go forward with cutting out my neck blank! i was figuring 1 of 3 options, and i would appriate some insight on all of them if possible.

    1. Bandsaw the basic side profile and plane the top of the neck down to proper the proper angle.

    2. create a template and route the "side" profile of the neck, the plane down the top to proper angle

    3. go the old fashioned route and just start hacking away at my blank checking my progress with my templates as i go (not my first choice...)

I know theres not really a "right" way to do this, everybody has a different way of building (the concepts are all the same though) i just dont want to really mess up my first neckthru! (using carvin necks right now would make me really happy, but i decided not to use them anymore!)

  3. Neal Moser and Moser Custom Shop are being sued by Kustom Musical Amplifications, Inc. (a subsidiary of HHI: Hanser Holdings International, and a corporate affiliate of B.C. Rich Guitars). The suit wrongly claims that neither Moser nor Moser Custom Shop has the right to build guitars involving Moser's own designs, including the Rich Bich, Moser 10, Genesis and Phoenix. The suit also wrongly claims that the “Spawn” & “Beastmaster” guitars infringe upon Kustom Musical Amplifications' trademarks. Neal Moser and Moser Custom Shop vigorously dispute the claims made by Kustom Musical Amplifications, and will pursue counterclaims against Kustom for its wrongs against Moser and Moser Custom Shop.

  4. The only way you'll get a better price than Shamray, is by going with a new builder/DIY'er who is undercharging.  It's your call, but this route is extremely risky.  Ask Gothfiend how his transaction with Jeff litchfield worked out... *

*But not in this thread, or the mods'll have my nuts for raising the subject B)

LOL :D i think we all know how i feel about that....and setch, nobody wants to see that happen :D

but sam, i would seriously consider work from perry, or myka for sure, both these guys are top notch guys and as for shamray, i have heard mixed reviews about them, but i have a few friends who own them and say there incredible, so tend to trust those guys

  5. well now im starting to really think about color on this bad boy, so im going to put it to a vote, trans blue, green or purple? its going to have black hardware no matter what (im poor and i already have all the parts -minus knobs and small stuff like that) i want to do a really nice finish on this guitar to show off the monster quilt top im getting from rich

  6. body and neck woods came in today so im going to be starting cutting out the templates later this week, if not monday (depends on how work goes) pictures up later tonight

as you can see the woods are a tad bit small for the size of the body and neck, this is not really a problem though, only a small obstical, as for the templates i know i havent cut them out yet, not all of them are done for that matter! comments are always welcome guys!

  7. carbon fiber and truss rod came in today, so now im just waiting for my woods to get here, should be a little later this week, they were sent out today to my knowledge, more pictures tommorow, i still have a few to resize.

and the more i think about it, the less i like the idea of such a monster of a electronics package, it would be nice, but what i am going to do is instead is keep the varitone and a single booster with the treble booster, coil taps for both pickups and a master vol/tone 3 way, not as bad to wire and still more then enough versitility for me
