  1. Why not make it with a tremolo like Petrucci plays, it looks as if all of them are hardtails.

So far I like it, don't like the fact that it is 22 frets instead of 24 and that the cutout in the bottom starts at the 19th fret ( I would have prefered at least on the top of the 22, and on the Petrucci is at the top of the 24th.

If you are EBMM and are making a prototype of a guitar that it's a staple on your brand, it should be done exact.

But this is John Petrucci's new guitar. This is the guitar he will be playing on tour. There already is a 24 fret, 25.5" scale JP sig with a tremolo. This will be his new 22 fret, 24.75" neck through model.

  2. I got to thinking this evening about buying gear and my (current) ideal set up and how much it would cost. From what I can see, €3000 would get me a great set up but to save €3000 would take a while so why not get a loan and pay back €60ish a week for a year?

In case anyone wants to know what my rig would be:

    Marshall JMP-1

    TC Electronics G-Major

Rocktron Velocity 100 Power Amp (2x55W)

    Samsung Power Conditioner

    SKB 6 Unit Rack Case

    Behringer FCB1010

    Behringer 4x12

    Cow Bell

Random Midi, speaker and patch leads

All that would cost €2100 leaving €900 plus whatever I sell my current rig for to spend on a guitar. Nice, no?

And leave reasons why you voted which ever way.

  3. Yeah, bills are horrible horrible things. €50 a week to pay bills and enjoy myself on. Not a lot of money.

Does anyway buy wood just to make a body and neck? I'm thinking of making a neck through but the most expensive bit is probably the fretboard so I was thinking of just building the guitar without the truss rod or fretboard and seeing how that goes. If it goes well, then I'd get a fretboard and truss rod, fret it and install. If that goes well, then get hardware.

  4. I'm sitting here, counting up my pennies and lusting after some wood :D

So far, it would cost about €140 for body, neck, fretboard, fretwire, truss rod and delivery from LMII. Assuming I built all that and finished it, I'd have spent €200 and I'd have a nice finished guitar (hopefully) but without pickups, electronics, bridge, tuners, strap pins or other hardware. If I put a Floyd Rose and 2 EMG humbuckers into it, I wouldn't have much change from €400. How can you all afford to be turning out guitars like there's no tomorrow??? It baffles me :D

  5. And 1 euro is about $1.25 so I', right, on the page YOU posted says the price is 175 Euro.

The link I posted was a different link that I found with the price in pounds.

Yes, the page I posted said €175.

The page you posted said £149, which is €216.638 according to xe.com

Now, I dunno about America but in Europe 175 is less than 216...
