“Sound on Sound” effect/long delay pad
On the intro on Shine On David is simulating keyboard pad his guitar using a very long delay. The guitar signal travels through a volume pedal (a second pedal used only for the SOS effect) and then into Roland digital delay unit with long repeats at 1500ms (20sec sustained repeats). David strums a chord, lowers the volume pedal and plays a solo fed through the “normal” signal path, while the Sound on Sound pad (the strummed chord) is sustained by the long delay. The pattern is repeated for each chord.

and if you use a wah, get ready for it to sound nasal and annoying, seeing as people usually use distortion *after* phase effects, and putting the distortion first in the signal chain (ie inside the guitar) won't sound great with certain effects.

the LED will most likely cause popping sounds when you flick the switch

putting surgical spirit on your fingertips builds callouses quickly

depending on the type of pedal it is you may have trouble swapping the bypass switch for a toggle.

its most likely not true-bypass, and most likely uses some form of digital switching.

as far as i know you need a reverb tank for the stage center reverb.

copper clad board + ferric chloride + transfer sheets VS one piece of stripboard.

ok, so maybe not easier...but definately cheaper...and if you find out that you suck at making pedals then you're not left with random chemicals etc.

for your first, rather than making your own PCB, stripboard may be an easier option.

i have an 80w valvestate marshall in the attic...but for some reason i can't help but play through my 10w squier amp...it just seems to get the tone that i actually want very easily.

oo, tempting...but i've got 15 guitars in all, and can't bear to part with any of my babies

afaik its on the yamaha sgv's (the really ugly ones)

its like a blend control between the two coils of the 'bucker, on mine its got a ''notch'' at the centre...so at 0% its one coil, 50% its both, and 100% its the other coil.

it was an update in the forum software a while back.

i think (not 100% sure) that if you play with power switching before the 'out signal' then you'll get problems with pops when you turn the effect on and off.

replacing the output jack with a stereo is the STANDARD way to do this.

you put the stereo jack in place of the mono one thats the output of your guitar at the moment.

so in its simplest form it would be:

pickups->guitar controls->fuzzface->output

if you use a few different pedals then its worth seeing what they all sound like with a fuzz before them.....
