Where Do You Connect A Humbucker's Ground Wire?

Can they be connected to the side of the switch as well? -
OK. I bought a Gibson 498t humbucker for my guitar. It has four cables. Red, Green, White, Black and Shield. The instructions say to connect Red to controls; Solder green and white, tape them and leave them alone; and to connect Black and Shield to ground. I assume that I have to connect the red one to the toggle switch. The Green and White cables are easy. Now, where the hell do I connect Black and Shield? This is just for curiosity, as I sent my guitar to a store so that they install the oick up.
