Could you route out the control cavity of a guitar large enough to put one of those headphone amps in, then have a hole drill through the top or side of the guitar as an output jack for headphones. I don't see why this wouldn't work, my only concern would be whether the headphone amp would be small enough. The only otther problem is that having a regular output and a headphone output could be confusing. Any thoughts?

Rather than start a new thread, I just thought I'd say that I've played one of these, just in case anybody was thinking of buying one(even though they probably arent) but it was really cool, not exactly the greatest sounding guitar, nor the most comfortable(the neck profile is half of a hexagon) and you can't bend the 'strings' but hey, its pretty cool none the less!

Since when do they sell guitars @ JC Penney? Man, I don't live in the states but when I go down there next time im definately buying one of those (if I can find it) it looks kick ass! Also, is the ebony neck beside it the 24" scale? Just wonderin. Also, if it is the 24" scale, where did you find it, I couldn't find it on Warmoth or Stew mac, maybe i wasn't looking hard enough.

Hey, and welcome. I own a Squier strat too, I reliced mine though. IMO doesn't play as well as my Ibanez's but hey, i like huge frets for bending. The strat looks cool though, so i'm ok with it.

The book "How to make your own electric guitar" By Melvyn Hiscock is a good start.

Hm....cheap wood....poplar or basswood are the first things that come to mind, Alder is pretty cheap, although around my parts at least its pretty hard to come by.

Hey, on one of my guitars, the hole where the screw for the strap button goes has gotten bigger than the threads of the screw. Now heres my question, would you guys suggest filling the hole with putty and just screwing it in again (if so, what kind of putty)or putting a dowel in maybe? Any other ideas?

mahogany and basswood are the most common 2 heaviest sounding woods aren't they?

Yea, those are what come to mind when I think of "heavy" sounding woods. I would choose basswood over the mahogany, but thats just cause its cheaper

I agree with wes. Even if you don't use all 24 frets on the guitar, having 24 frets makes it easier to play the 23,22,21 etc...
