  1. I put a dimarzio solo pro in bridge on my strat I like it, but it cost like $60. Are there any cheaper ones out there that I can put in the middle and neck?

Try the GFS boutique vintage staggered (middle pickup reverse wound ) pickups. Very good for the money! Available at guitarfetishparts

Guitar fetish is a great site, but the last time a checked they didn't have stacked vintage single coils.

The reversed wound middle single coil isn't a noiseless pup. What it does is when switched in the 2 and 4 position offsets the polarities of the bridge and neck positions resulting in hum cancellation.

When I put a stacked dimarzio in the bridge. The reversed wound middle pickup will now only cancle hum in the 4th position between the middle and neck.

  4. You ask the same questions, you get the same answers. :D

Really, did you buy a new boxed set of pickups or used ones? New ones have the wiring diagream in the box. if they're used, what did they come out of? Fender has the wiring diagrams for their guitars at the link I gave you twice.

Buying stuff on ebay is cool, but really. Caveat emptor. Look it up.

It came out of a 2006 Fender Strat American Deluxe and the diagram blows. Dimarizio has much better diagrams.

Oh well if this doesn't work. The Caveat emptor is coming right back at her! :D

circle hot, triangle and square ground.

  5. I bought the the samiam cobalt noiseless pickups on ebay. The color was supposed to be white but it aint.

The covers are on real tite and not easy to remove like a vintage dimarzio.

Can these cobalt covers be safely removed?

Nope, can't really remove the covers. They are non-standard in depth anyway, so your regular covers won't work. GREAT pickups, though.

I have 1 cream colored scn middle position. Quite honestly I can't remember if it came white and has aged (from a 2004 guitar) or if Fender offers it in three colors. In any case, if you want it shoot me a pm with an offer.

LMAO! Ofcourse regular covers won't, but I would like to put stacked white covers on them. SCN comes in 4 colors: white, aged white, black and parchment. These 2 are parchment covers. My vintage stacked dimarzio cover comes off very easy but these cobalt covers unfortunately don't seem to budge. These 2 cobalts were yanked off a 2006 strat.

Is there a trick to safely remove the covers?

  6. 2 Meg pots are very harsh sounding unless you are using uber high output pups. 1 Meg really only sounds good with pups over 10 or 11k. They add more presence than anything else along with a slight increase in output. The extra presence gives the illusion of higher output...

    -Stan

So 2 meg volume pot would be good for dimarzio super distortion usa right?
  7. Well it will work... again you might get ever-so-slightly more high frequencies, but not much scope for varying the volume.

I have a 2 meg pot on one of my guitars because the original was crackly and it was all I had to hand. My ears cant detect any change in sound.

it only really affects the volume between about 1-2, and then for 3-10 it just sounds the same.

Changing the tone pots for a higher value would also brighten the sound.

So there is no more noticeable gain for increased artificial harmonics like from a 250k to 500k that I already did on my strat?
  8. Actually, Godin, you're forgetting about Kirchoff's Law. The volume control circuit acts as a voltage divider network, which without going into all sorts of physics I learned in vo-tech but forgot somewhere in law school, adding a larger value pot will actually have the effect of increasing the output. Problem is it also screws with the resonant peak and the sound can become shrill and ice-picky. I wouldn't say Torres is exactly lying, but the difference between a 1-meg and 2-meg pot isn't going to be as dramatic as a 500k to 1M pot.

This is why Fender uses 1-meg pots on the Noiseless pickups.

Yeah but isn't shrill and ice-pickey dimebag's screaming metal sound? So would that be 2 megs?
  9. $225 insured and shipped. Will knocked down $100 for a jag toilet seat with game and cart. Or trade for a better digicam like the older 5 meg with flash card.

Sorry my cammy is crap. The lighter pics where you see the red is the right color.

Minty, red stained double cutaway guitar, Screaming Metal Hi-Output pups, Solid Body, Alder, rear routed=more wood=more sustain, set neck=easy access to the hi registary and great sustain, gotoh rotos with big schaller style knobs=tuning stability, low profile tuna=less string breakage. Locking nylon strap.

Plus I will throw in a new set of strings and 2 books on my list except beatles are tentively on hold.

This is a great sounding/playing guitar. The set neck dc design makes this the easiest guitar to play. A les paul looks and sounds great but hump gets in the way when you try playing higher up the fret board.

A strat sounds great but where the neck is bolted is also cumbersome when trying to hit the high notes.

I'm only getting rid of this cause Hud is on my butt to free up space.

  10. Would a 1 meg volume pot actually work out on a strat that has 1 noiseless single coil and 2 stock singles?

I went from a 250k pot to 500k volume pot and liked the results, but I was wondering if a 1 meg will even beef up the sound more or would it be just some over the top crap sound?

  11. Hey you guys, I'm in Singapore right now (used to live here, came back to visit) and I've stumbled along a place that sells some cool stuff for pretty cheap. So if anyone is interested, I can pick you up some:

PRS Pre-Cut Bird Inlays in MOP: $15

Copy, but good solid feeling, Bigsby Trem: $50

And then there's stuff like liscenced floyds, etc. but I didn't check the prices on those, these two things were things I was planning on getting at least one for myself, hense why I remember the prices. Well, If anyone wants some just let me know and I'll get some extras. But let me know soon, cause I leave Singapore tuesday morning (Singapore time), so like evening of Monday US time.

    Chris

Does it say Bigsby on it? If so it's a counterfiet. I would be interested in one that said just Bigsby on it and not Bigsby liscensed.
