Holy cow this is really really really REALLY nice! Im lovin the body design! Very well thought out and executed!
-
Altoids tin?
was thinking more about taking 2 6 string covers and... cut and glue in interesting ways... haha
-
Depressing... haha
I do have an idea though, kind of a silly one... I'll let you guys know more when I figure out what Im doing.
-
'Haha you guys crack me up.
Thanks a LOT mike, I'll be sure to send some good emails here in a bit.
-
For some reason, I'm having a difficult time sourcing a couple of these... If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.
edit: looking for white covers.

I unfortunately do not get to pick this beast up for 15 days! (police hold on used gear) when I get it in my possession I will get you guys some good pictures of what I need to get. To my knowledge the 3 way is just a normal three way, and I would be ok slapping a dimarzio 3 way, but the value of the guitar comes into question with that.
d'ads have by far the best customer service! they also sell cobalts, you should look into them next time

I will let the pictures do the talking first... For your consideration... a quilt red EBMM EVH model
And brace yourself....
Yes, a musicman EVH model for 399$....
that said, its not in the BEST of shape, mostly hardware issues. The 3way switch is broken, and the floyd rose has a MASSIVE amount of corrosion, requiring replacement. Due to high value of this guitar, I'd like to keep it "stock" while fixing these issues.
1) does anyone know where to get a EBMM 3 way switch? Or something VERY similar is fine, just high quality.
2) Can I replace the saddles with normal floyd rose saddles? The corrosion is on the saddles, not the baseplate, so I can replace those. I'm debating on just getting a gotoh and calling it a day.
Thanks.

Jesus h christ. You' appear to be winning the "Clamp" game!

WHOA THAT'S RED
I always thought that a red looks better when sprayed over a yellow basecoat? Probably different for crazy stuff like fluorescents.
I know ferrari uses their red over yellow to get their "Ferrari Red" color (similar to RFR), but I would try white for that extra "pop" for me. They use a candy red, so I dont know if it would be the same with a flourescent

Phew thats pretty! I may be interested, pending cost of course. Send me a pm and we can discuss terms

This is great, I love that "leaning" look, reminds me of the peavey wolfgangs! Great wood choices, everything seems to compliment each other.
-
All your base are belong to PRS, imo.
Looks like a cross between an abyss and PRS, but the bass and treble horn dont balance visually. What I think WOULD work well is this design with a carved top.

On a serious note, could it be possible that the wood was not dry all the way? So the "moisture" escaping causes the grain to raise?
Would doing a pass with a damp cloth then sanding alleviate this issue? I know that works for maple, but I haven't used large pore woods yet.

lol rhoads, I came across that guy youre talking about haha. I STILL cant believe people buy anything from that guy!!!!
-
Damn, I think everyone here has wanted to make a guitar like this! I know I have!

But - IMHO - a guitar (hand-)made in the US can't compete with price to chinese low price products. Have a look at Sunsmiles product range: http://www.ssmii.com/guitars.asp
Their SST 01 Strat copy costs $37.50. Their double-necked SG knockoff costs $140 ... scary ...
Sunsmile may be the producer of Xaviere.
So much blasphemy on that page

Hey gents, sorry. I've been swamped with holiday stuff and work, so didn't think about this for a bit.
-
Wowww that looks awesome! I love that red!
-
That is in no way a fender.
For a guitar from the 80's heres some "issues"
- Even if it wasn't played, the nitro would have aged. That looks brand new (minus the tuners ofc)
- the bridge is BRAND new lol
- the routing is AWFUL, even warmoth did better then that...
- The paint in the neck cavity, hell even squiers are better then that!
God's honest truth, I'd say that its a counterfeit (china made) fender, with 80's wiring, and "correct" tuners installed...
-
Meh, no. Overcomplicated.
Actually, the main reason I want to build one of those is for the multi radius capability. Doing it with blocks seems to be... "iffy" for a newbie :-/
-
Wow those are some impressive inlays!! Very very nice!

Man call me crazy but I love that look!
Ibanez Js Spalted Maple Neckthrough Build
in In Progress and Finished Work
Posted
Hola... Well, the weather is warming up, and I have a lot of nice wood laying around so I figured Id give this one the old college try.
Specs I intend for ->
woods ->
Spalted maple body
Flame maple/ Cedar neck
jatoba fretboard
figured walnut cavity covers and knobs
Hardware ->
black hardtail bridge
black tuners
medium fretwire (may go stainless, not sure yet)
Over all specs ->
22 frets
offset walnut dot inlays (may do something different here)
dimarzio push pull pot for coil splitting
cts 500k for tone
3 way switching
For starters, you can use your imagination... dont ask about the other guitar. I painted it, and the temp went from 68 to 20 over night haha.
