Got this the other day. Going to add a kill switch between the volume and tone knobs soon. -
It'll get finished one day, just not very soon
-
Its still not finished cause i never got round to buying the varnish for one reason or another but there it is with the neck attached sorry the pic isn't very clear.
-
The fretboard is amazing.
If i go down to the boarder can i visit you're workshop?
-
That looks amazing, great work man!
-
Is it me or is Matt's shoulder on fire?
I don't have a Wall of death, stuff I'm not happy with gets put straight in the bin or is lost forever under my bed

Do you want a work shop assistant/slave Perry?
Yep, sure do.
Really? How much is a plane to Australia these days?
-
Yeah but i had another job till monday that was taking up 30ish hours a week, and i have to get a new job. Do you want a work shop assistant/slave Perry?
-
Do you ever find that you take on to much work, it seems to me that building and repairing guitars is becoming a bit of a chore. Right now i have an acoustic build, an acoustic in for a new nut and saddle, a classical guitar waiting for a re top, a strat getting refinished, a bass build from scratch fr a friend, a carved top electric for me, another strat for me, a violin kit still needing finishing and a ukulele, there isn't enough hours in a day. maybe its time to slow down a bit, i dunno

I cut off a small piece today and had it split into veneers, I'm a bit worried cause its already cracking and it was only cut about 15 hours ago.
-
It certainly would be strong enough. (Apple is great for making wooden mallets.) I don't know about its tonal qualities. I would guess it would work pretty well ... assuming you can get a clean cut of wood. Let us know how it works ... you may start a trend.
I should get a nice plank out of it, it has no cracks in it. I hope i don't start a trend, can't have people cutting down all the apple trees. Where would we get cider from?
-
I have a couple of old apple trees that i cut down 4 years ago and since then they've been sitting in the shed drying off. the main trunk of one of them is just big enough to get a neck blank out of, having never seen or heard of it being used for this i think it would be better to see if anyone has or if anyone knows how it sounds.

wheres their dust masks, should have one if their sanding.
This guy was pretty much the only one with all the stuff on, and he isnt really doing any sanding/spraying or machine work.

OK just now I'm working on customizing my Rg270, i only ever use the bridge pickup in it and so I'm replacing the stock one with something better, and the can be coil tapped. So i want to make the centre and neck pickups into a sort of indicator as to whether the bridge humbucker is being a single coil or bucker, I'm going to take the pole pieces out he centre and neck pickups and replace them with LEDs so that when you select the bridge to be a bucker the neck lights up and when its a single the centre lights up.

Little "artists impression"for you there , now i have no idea how to make this work, can someone nice work it out for me?and also suggest a good but not to pricey pickup to put in the bridge?
-
how big is you're saw then mattia
the guitar looks great, i love that drum sander aswell.
-
the grain on it incredable, can't wait to see that finished
-
it stunning, shame gibson don't make em look that good
-
when you going to drill the holes for the bridge
-
You can make the bridge a 15 inche radius by filling the string slots a little deeper. You can resses the bridge into the body if you don't have any angle on the neck, just rout out a channel so it can sit into the body a bit.
-
i would think the bracing would be able to hold it flat.
Check with the more expeiranced builders though, just incase
-
Go with metal, and paint it black. It should blend in quit well if all your hardware is going to be black.
or you could alway use clear plastic
-
Matt that look awsome!

I like number 2 best.
