  1. i'm only using one volume pot and one tone pot. that scheme has 3 pots. i am using 2 pots and a 5 way toggle. also, I found this wiring diagram and it shows to connect the cap to the tone pot and ground it on the pot, and the seymour duncan diagram shows to connect the cap between the two pots? what should I do? wiring sceme 2
  2. I am currently wiring up my guitar with a humbucker in the bridge, hot rails in the neck, hot rails in the middle. I was going to use THISwiring diagram from seymour duncan. but i am not sure what I should do with the 4 conductor wired rails in the neck and the middle? I want the neck and middle rails to act as a humbucker when i select them. I don't want to split them. how should I wire them up? I made changes to the seymour duncan wiring diagram....is this what I'm supposed to do? also should I wire all the grounds to my volume pot and then a single wire back to the tremolo claw? thanks
  3. I got the 10k rails for both the neck and the middle, and a fat PAF for the bridge. i should have it all finished hopefully this weekend
  4. will the vibrations from the body mess up the pickups?
  5. I am currently putting new pickups into my old guitar but I have a problem. The hole for the humbucker was a tad but too small and the humbucker slides into the hole but it touches the guitar body in some places inside the hole. the part that touches is the metal base plate and the ribbon that goes around the pickup. my question is, will this cause any problem? I will still be screwing in the pickup ring on top of it. also my rail pickups are touching the same way as well. *edit* thread topic wrong. pickups too BIG for the holes. not to small.
  6. I got these in today. what do you think? NEW tuners OLD chrome ones
  7. pickups i'm looking into Sorry I added the link in the other thread but i figured I would add it to this one as well
  8. rails I am looking at those are the pickups I had planned on getting. it doesn't destinguish between the neck, middle, and bridge. what do you think?
  9. Anyone else want to chime in here and give me some suggestions and opinions?
  10. well my bridge humbucker is a 16.6k output Pup. so i figured the 15k in the bridge would match that better. i didnt' want to switch to the neck or middle and it be a lot more quiet than the bridge. I thought the 10k and 6k would be ALOT quieter than the 16.6k humbucker. what do you think I should do for the neck and middle?
  11. would it be better to get neck and middle the same? both 15k? I was kind of leaning towards getting the 15k for the neck and the 10k for the middle to make the guitar more versatile. any comments on this setup?
  12. Is a 15k output rails pickup too hot for the neck position? I was thinking about getting a 15k in the neck and a 10k in the middle? would this be waay to hot? my other option is to get a 10k in the neck and a 6k in the middle.. which one of these setups would be the best?
  13. Is a 15k output rails pickup too hot for the neck position? I was thinking about getting a 15k in the neck and a 10k in the middle? would this be waay to hot? my other option is to get a 10k in the neck and a 6k in the middle.. which one of these setups would be the best?
  14. yeah the rail pickups are 4 conductor wire. What should I do with the extra wires on the rails since most single coils dont' have 4 wires?
  15. Well I think the Rails are 4 wire pickups. What would I do with the other wires? solder them together like the humbucker in that diagram? Oh and I have some .047 ceramic disc caps....will these be ok? or should I get some film caps?
  16. Is there a way I can wire the rails up in the neck and middle where they don't every split? I don't want to split them. and i can't seem to find the right wiring diagram for a humbucker in the bridge, little humbuckers in the neck and middle. with one volume and one tone. with a 5 way switch. anyone have a wiring diagram for this?
  17. Ok I think i have decided to get two sets of rails for the neck and middle. would this make the guitar have three humbucks? Would I need the same pots and caps? also how would I wire it up? with a humbucker in the bridge and two sets of rails in the neck and middle.
  18. its a Fender Squier 1 bullet. made in the 80's sometime
  19. oh and should I get the orange drop caps? i have heard they are better.
  20. sweet lovecraft. thanks. that helps a lot. but what are the differences in the caps? I have no clue what they do and what the difference between the numbers is. if you could enlighten me that would be great.
  21. I was just going off of a specs sheet on a website. its said the bushing for the bridge pins was 10mm. i though that was freakign huge too. so I dunno if thats right or not
  22. oh and how do I connect the two single coils since there is no pickguard? Where would I get a surround like a humbucker but for a single coil?
  23. I will need the 500k pot? as well as the 47 pf cap? I found some wiring diagrams on seymour duncans website and it said to get both pots for volume and tone at 250k and the cap to be a .022 cap. what is the difference between the larger ones and the smaller ones? why should I go for the larger one?
