  1. I am currently trying to figure out the neck angle on my current project, but I need the height of a standard TOM bridge. Does anyone have a number that is a standard number to go by that will allow for a little adjustments just in case it needs it? I have heard .625" but I want to be 100% sure that is correct. Thanks.

  2. I just calculated it up on stew mac and it doesn't look like the 18" would actually fit in the neck.

    24.07" fret scale Printable

fret from nut fret to fret

    1 1.351" 1.351" (nut-1)

    2 2.626" 1.275" (1-2)

    3 3.830" 1.204" (2-3)

    4 4.966" 1.136" (3-4)

    5 6.038" 1.072" (4-5)

    6 7.050" 1.012" (5-6)

    7 8.005" 0.955" (6-7)

    8 8.907" 0.902" (7-8)

    9 9.758" 0.851" (8-9)

    10 10.561" 0.803" (9-10)

    11 11.319" 0.758" (10-11)

    12 12.035" 0.716" (11-12)

    13 12.710" 0.675" (12-13)

    14 13.348" 0.638" (13-14)

    15 13.950" 0.602" (14-15)

    16 14.518" 0.568" (15-16)

    17 15.054" 0.536" (16-17)

    18 15.560" 0.506" (17-18)

    19 16.038" 0.478" (18-19)

    20 16.488" 0.451" (19-20)

    21 16.914" 0.426" (20-21)

    22 17.316" 0.402" (21-22)

I may need to redraw the neck in cad again to make sure it is correctly drawn.

  3. Well if you all think it will work properly I think i'm going to cut down a 25.5 board instead of trying to make my own 24" board.

I was planning on getting this to make my neck. which will be a fender style shortscale neck.

    This for the neck

    This for the fretboard

and this for the truss rod.

Does this sound like it would all work out properly?

  4. I have an ibanez Gio body and neck for sale. The finish is chipping but would be perfect for anyone wanting to do a jem conversion. The body appears to be made of alder but I can't really tell from the wood showing under the chips. The tuning machines, bridge, and pickguard are included. I bought this guitar for the EMG pickup that was installed and I do not need the body. As I said before, it would be perfect for someone wanting to build a jem conversion or wants to refinish. I am asking $35 + shipping.

any questions please feel free to ask. Thanks.

  5. I am in the process of building my first solid body. I am at the point where I am about to route the pickup cavities. I am in need of a cad drawing of a humbucker pickup routing template. Does anyone have a drawing of this I can have? If someone has a cad drawing I would rather have that than buy the plastic one from stew mac. I will be making my own templates anyway.

    Thanks.

  6. you said they were the best metal pickups youve ever heard, thats a pretty bold statement! how do you think they stack up against emgs? i was considering buy a set of emg 81s for my gibson sg, however the guitarhead pups seem like a steal as far as active pups go. how do they sound and measure up to emgs?

they sound better than the emgs ive tried. ive tried emgs in a jackson dk and an esp viper. i think they have a much crisper sound and a ton of mids wich is what i like. you definitly need a neck pickup tho because the bridge doesnt have very good cleans just like emgs. but i have never tried guitarheads in a set or neck thru guitar. i think they will sound better. i dont think i will ever use emgs again.

Are you comparing these to the EMG 81/85 (zakk wylde) set? I am currently building a guitar and am wanting to go active pickups in it. I am looking for something that has a really heavy sound and is capable of getting pinch harmincs very easily like the EMG's do.

  7. I really like the looks of the string through....I will probably putting EMG's in it. This guitar will be for my rock guitar. I will be making the neck and body from scratch so I could possibly make it with a neck angle. What is the most common neck angle with a TOM? I am going to make it either a strat hardtail or the string-thru TOM. The neck will be a bolt on, so will this be a problem with the neck angle?
