when you say 'extra relief', which way do you turn the truss rod for that? (No i havent tried)
thanks
Here's Brian's tutorial on truss rod adjustment:
http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/trussadjust.htm
and another
http://www.athensmusician.net/archive/2001...neimbody1.shtml
By extra, I meant more relief, i.e., loosen (counter-clockwise?) the truss rod. Be careful not to accidentally loosen it all the way!

im getting some wicked fret buzz from my explorer on the first 3-5 frets
ive replaced the nut, releveled the frets, adjusted the bridge saddle, and cant get it to stop! any suggestions? i have some fretwire and could do refret work, but i dont think it would help
thanks in advance
This is probably too obvious but it wasn't in your list of things you tried. Have you played around with the truss rod adjustment? I've "cured" fret buzz in the 3rd-5th fret area with extra relief (more than I'd normally like sometimes .)

Vieux? Babelfish says it means "old man." Hmm... A program for an old man with a disregard for others' feelings?
-
I believe it's called G-Code.

I used ready strip... its a waste of money.
Did you try the "Pro," the "MultiStrip" or the regular?
-
Have you seen those cheesy infomercials for "Ready Strip?" (non-toxic, yada, yada.) I've seen them use it on home improvment shows like "This Old House" and it seems to really work (on doors and such.) I checked their website and they have the Pro or their MultiStrip which supposedly works for urethanes too. I'm waiting for it to get warmer to give it a try... but you can try it first and be the guinea pig .

The lower horn reminds me of Florida . The wood looks beautiful.

These guys have touch switches that fit an existing Strat style 5 way switch route. They have a couple other cool circuits too.
Oooh, after reading the description of it, it sounds pretty cool... especially the "self-cancelling" aspect of it.
-
How about explicate? Any more "e" synonyms?
-
Um, you guys know that canuckguitarist just started sweep picking a couple of weeks ago, right? You should at least notate up/down strokes for those tabs you posted as it's not intuitive for those that's just starting out (the purpose of this thread.)

Something like this:I was playing....v v v ^ v |---------12h17p12---------------------| |-----13-------------13----------------| |-14--------------------14-------------| |--------------------------------------| |--------------------------------------| |--------------------------------------|
How would I play vvv^P^^? Thanks for the responses guysv v v ^ ^ ^ |---------12-17p12---------------------| |-----13-------------13----------------| |-14--------------------14-------------| |--------------------------------------| |--------------------------------------| |--------------------------------------|
That's how I'd play it as a sweep... but don't let my style cloud your way. You should make your own decision . What you posted above is not sweeping on the up stroke... in fact you alternate on the last notes.

Heh, heh, it's a creepy likeness of him isn't it?

And your credit card number while you're at it .

cheap trick's bassist has a 12 string bass
crazy
But isn't it 3 courses of 4 strings?
Edit: or is it 4 courses of 3 string each
anyway it'd be like playing a 4 string in terms of complexity.
-
I pick one note on the up stroke so the order is VVV^V
Oh, I see. Try it as VVV^P^^

For gibson 24 3/4 scale.Does any1 have the exact distance from the nut to the last fret?please and thanks
Using this fret calculator:
http://www.buildyourguitar.com/resources/f...c/jscrptclc.htm
it's 17.805 inches from the nut to fret 22.
-
Ugh, quicktime movies crashes my laptop .
Your sweep on the down stroke looks good but I can't tell from the video if you're picking at all on the up stroke. Other than that, you're ready to proceed to 4,5,6 string sweeps .

i mesured my 22 wasburn and it mesures to be 18 and half inches from nut, i am not sure if i want jumbo frets or not, is there a fret calculator somewhere??
If you haven't played on a guitar with jumbo frets, maybe go to a store and ask to play one with jumbo frets to see if you like it... but beware what some call jumbo has been pretty low from what I've experienced.
Fret calculator: http://www.buildyourguitar.com/resources/f...c/jscrptclc.htm

Well, I think just a little bit longer than half the scale length of the guitar. Allow for the nut and maybe 1/4" past the 24th fret.
Half the scale length? That's the 12th fret ain't it? Probably 3/4 of the scale length for the 24th fret.

You can try contacting the manufacterers directly but I have a feeling you'd have to buy in quantities of several thousand each... which probably'd be ok if that's what you want .

The owner posted this somewhere else:
http://www.geocities.com/alnkathynz/nerve
It looks like it uses a "traditional" Kahler type bridge but the "tuners" looks very interesting to me. Anyone seen these before? Any info on the company?

That wood isn't big enough for most guitar shapes. It should work for a Tele and maybe a dinky strat but not much else
My .02

I am not worried...price hasnt budged.
There's still over 12 hours as I type this, sniping will occur when there's a few seconds left.

Check out Brother Bob playing it at www.largesound.com He sounds a lot better than me anyway!!
Heh, heh. Yeah, I know how they sound and have heard that clip (I'm the one that posted that link to http://www.largesound.com/ originally in that other thread .)
I/we want to hear your playing .

Having so much neck/body contact reminds me of the Teuffel Tesla for which they claim
Which might be good for a bass guitar .
