Sweet! I love the Batman inlay
-
I second the eMachineShop suggestion. It's free and very user-friendly.
-
Wow. Seriously, just wow. That shot of the interior with the carbon struts and carved brace is awesome.
-
That second piece looks a lot like wenge to me.

Thank you so much! I'm a fan of your work and really appreciate your feedback.
-
Sweet! I really like the FB wood.

Hey PG friends, I'm submitting Knightro JR for this month's GOTM.
This is my first scratch build, 100% designed and built by me. In keeping with my novice status, I decided to go for a fairly simple vintage-inspired configuration roughly based on a Les Paul DC JR. This guitar was mostly built on a folding workbench in my apartment, though I was able to rent time at a local wood shop for larger and messier operations.
Specs:
Body-
African mahogany with hand-rubbed oil finish
Neck-
Maple neck
Indian rosewood fretboard w/MOP dots
24.5" scale w/24 frets
16" radius
Hardware-
Graphtech Ratio tuning machines
Graphtech Resomax Wraparound bridge
Graphtech TUSQ XL nut
Electronics-
Stewmac Golden Age P90
CTS 250k Volume/Tone pots
Emerson .015uf PIO cap
50's style wiring

Yes, 27.662" is to the center of the mounting holes. The 3 mounting holes for the Hipshot bridge are aligned slightly behind the string-through holes, though this isn't the case for many bridges. For example, a Gotoh hard tail bridge has mounting holes in all 4 corners, rather than a straight line. By telling you to measure to the forward-most holes, SM gives you a solid reference for many differing bridges.

Yeah, you're probably gonna have to deepen your TOM recess. I'm an amateur by all accounts though, so don't let my opinion sway you too much. I'm sure one of the more experienced members here will chime in sooner or later.
Beside that though, killer guitar!

Dang! I hope your clot issue is resolved quickly!
-
This project is cool! I'm excited to see where it goes from here.
-
Yep, TB1. I'm excited to see your project!
-
Awesome! I really like the cutaway design, it's similar to what I want to try some day.
-
Thanks! I definitely learned a lot, and I'm excited to learn even more!
-
Hey, thank you very much! It is entirely possible to refine the neck heel, I just need more practice. Hopefully the next one will be much nicer
-
Thank you! She's got her rough spots, but overall I'm very happy.
-
I really enjoy archtop builds and your style. I'll be watching this one!
-
Sometimes I have good ideas

When I had a router slip like yours above, I took a carving gouge and turned the missing bit into a little recess for finger access. As a result, that cover is super easy to remove.

Whoa, for a second there I though you had posted a B&W image. This guitar is super cool!
-
@ BetterOffShred- Thanks! What are you working on? I'm sure yours will be great
@Renk- What's up dude? Don't worry, I've been keeping an eye on the Siren- she's gorgeous. And thank you!
-
Thank you! It sounds nice- got the proper vintage vibe. The pickup is a StewMac Golden Age P90, which was surprisingly good for the price. I have a sound clip somewhere, but it's pretty bad quality. I'll try to record a quick one later today.

Looks like we're at the end here. I wish I would have gotten more pics as I went through the finishing process, but I suppose watching me rub oil on a guitar might not be super interesting.
Oiled up and pickguard attached.
Electronics installed.
My wife caught me doing the initial string-up
And there we go, all done!
