yeah and the small leaf inlay on the side............
........EXTRA 2 MILLION EASY!!!!
-
if i owned it i'd refinish it
probably too much trouble to fix each blemish and get it to look right
is that what you meant?
-
some are some aren't
just depends how much time/effort/money you're willing to put in
-
there are endless possibilities but basically
you prep the guitar (sanding down, basecoat if you want....etc)
then paint your design on
then seal with usually a spray of some sort
and after each layer of anything you would usually do some fine sanding to
fix lumps, blemishes...etc
but there are many others here who have way more experience then me
-
ok i think i get the mylar stuff now
now i understand it i realise i've seen it here and there before
thanks for the tip bout removing the dots
but i don't get what you mean about the brass tube exactly
got a picture or something?

oh yeah is chrome mylar a spray?
i don't really understand how the process works to make it a mirror
is it that simple?(spray on back of something clear and it's done?)
Cheers

so vinals not actually mirrored then?
would it be easy to do this without removing the frets?
and is epoxy the best to use or are there other just as good alternatives?
sorry bout all these uninformed questions
this will be my first DIY neck inlay
-
hehe!
thanks Brian!
what's vinal?
would i have to cut my own acrylic plastic pieces?
cause there's about 4 or 5 different sizes(guessing) used on the 7dbk
-
G'day!
this just hit me a few minutes ago
if i drill out the old screwhead inlays on my jem7dbk,
get some new clear inlays, spray the underside with that chrome mylar stuff
talked about here: http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...=ST&f=10&t=1224
put new inlays in and tada! awesome 7dbk!
i'll also add an extra dot on the 12th and 24th (3 dots for that alienish look)
will this work ok?
what are the clear inlay things made out of
and how hard is it to drill out the old ones?
thanks peoples!!
-
the aliens pointed me in this direction
-
aaahhhhh........i like the blue

"I emailed Hafler in search of a manual, first guy seemed pretty clueless, but I was soon emailed with the full manual in .pdf format."

'each his own' for a male human
'each it's own' for a ferret or an alien(a genderless one that is)
-
how would one go about painting a truss rod cover chrome
or even mirrored if it's possible?
-
TC are slightly better in that they have an internal transformer which converts the voltage
The g major will be ok then ( i'll just use an Aus pin adapter)
And for the ada i might check out getting it professionally changed
Thanks for the help guys
Cheers
-
are you in Aus at the moment Cerealk?
how did you convert the power from your gear while you were here?
(if you brought it with you)
question for swirlers
in Inlays and Finishing Chat
Posted
i don't think this would be giving away any trade secrets
when you swirl a guitar which method of applying paint do you use?
(a)dip body in through paint and back out through paint(doublelayer)
(b)dip body in through paint, blow away paint and make hole in surface,
pull out avoiding second layer
c)dip in without paint(avoiding 1st layer), apply paint, pull out through paint so it only gets 2nd layer
Thanks
