  1. "hotlinking" refers to when somebody posts an IMAGE on their site linking to ANOTHER person's website..

Which is what I did of that SG and the brown tortoise somebody else did.. (sry bout that)

I'm pretty sure that's what it means....

    So things like THIS

    Iguana Burst!!!!!!

    is ok.

THERE's the iguana burst.. not the sg i posted earlier

Read this about HotLinking aka Bandwidth Theft aka Intellectual Property Theft :D

  2. What kind of ceramic pickups are you using... wait.. lemme guess?? emgs??

When I bought podxt live, I had a huge misconception that I could've had the crappiest guitar in the world and still sound as if I had a tube. I did end up exchanging it for BossGT8, and as time passes, we all learn. And so did I...

So.. my point. Nice tone and sound. :D

  3. If you put a speaker directly under the strings (much like an acoustic sound hole placement) there might be some funky side effects when it gets loud. The sound from the speaker would intern vibrate the strings. Perhaps this is why Fernandes offsets theirs.

Hmm. That's not a bad idea.. I could just install it inside the guitar but as a seperate unit and I'd have a jack going in from the guitar (get one of those 3" pedal cnxn jack) and I could plug in normally to amp if i wanted to.. and i could be playing another guitar through it and have this one play through amp. :D

My first view of the microamp was by JackBlack from the school of rock.. so I didn't have much of an impression :D

    Thx for the idea

  4. K, it's a little project I think I'm gonna make.

I don't know what the body's shape gonna look like yet. Probably a flying V.

It really doesn't matter to my question.

My question is, I'm going to have 1 Humbucker at neck and between the neck and the pup, I'm going to put in a small speaker about 4" or so, the fitting won't be much of a problem. It's run by a 9V bat.

It's just that, would putting in the speaker there create any sort of feedback, bad tone/sound, anything at all? I don't think I've ever seen a guitar with a speaker under the strings..

Also, would this have any effect on the guitar's sustainability?

  5. I think if you're to use acrylic, it's not a crazy idea at all (the ibanez js2000? i believe is made of acrylic/clear)

    Here's a PRS style example.

Just looking at these things give me the goosebumps.. cuz of their instability..

Like GuitarGuy said, I would do it in a mould too although I dont have much experience I like unique stuffs, and this is just one of them.

Also, i think even if you do moulds, you would need some function to compensate for its instability. (thinner body 1 1/2 sounds ok I think, color white would help, dunno.. some holes trough the body? to stabilize temp?)

Also, wouldn't pressuring the epoxy help alot? In mould, during cure, probably.?

  6. You can learn alot about woods from this site. Has pictures and explanations that go with them.

    Link

check the maples under section "lightwood" you'll see what verho and nightfly mean.

Also, check if that "cap" is a veneer or not (veneer usually means very thin. around 1/16")

A maple "top" refers to a maple cap which is much thicker that could go around 1"- 5/16",etc. (dont quote me on the numbers here..) much thicker than veneer...

oh, and also, there is a slight variation between curly and flamed maple check this page

  7. Just a suggestion, you could build your own pickups from those kits they sell at StewMac

    StratPickupKit CoilWire Tape

Personally, I think it's a very useful skill to be able to customize pickups, and it shouldn't take too much time once you get the hang of it. I, myself, haven't tried it. (Mainly because my 'rents won't let me use their creditcard.. :D )

    Just something to consider imo.

EDIT: Oh.. did I mention how cheap it is? Check it out for yourself!

  8. Total crap.

    Plus, Underoath is not screamo.

If you want to hear screamo, check out pg.99, Saetia, Hot Cross, City of Caterpillar, Yaphet Kotto, and tons of other actual screamo bands. Read up on genres before you start slapping incorrect labels on music. It's very misleading to others, and that's how this crap gets started. Screaming in music does not mean it is of the screamo genre.

I used to be one of.. u. (and yes i am very familiar with screamo/hardcore/grindcore/emo/ska/2ndwaveska/list goes on.. spent way too much time debating about these stuff...)

But you know what, N.America whether either of us like it or not follow this rule, truth is decided by the majority.

And the "majority" mostly influenced by media starts calling JimmyEatWorld, TakingBackSunday, AFI, even DashboardConfessional, (etc) emo and these days you hear the word "emo" reference to type of clothes or attitudes and so on. Of course, emo refers to the music alone.

And we all know that history is only written by the winners, alas the "majority".

Although it may seem sad such as not knowing your backgrounds if your a mud, to give an example.

But I've noticed that ppl like me and you, those who seek truth and knowledge will always find it.

This statement has lot of scholastic, moral, or even religious values to it.

But you know what, I'm not gonna try to convince you, cuz I'm not gonna sit here and narrow-mindedly debate about a small subgenre in N.American culture. There's a whole world out there.

  9. *knock knock

Is the topic starter even listening??

I'd buy a line 6 dude... it has a few different distorted sounds... and they're semi-cheap enough... but i dont know how much a jobless 16 yr old has!! My dad got me a spider line 6 for my birthday... i'm 12... just collect your birthday change and save up lol

    Luke

I first bought line6 podxt live (the floor board multi fx and amp modeling, i think it's called live, i always get confused with the other one)

Anywho, plugged it from fender strat through it and to some Fender Preston? I forget, it wasn't mine. 2x12 combo amp with chorus.

line 6 are alright but you can really hear how "digital" it sounds which kinda sucks

So true.. after I tried some pedals sounds and entertaining/educating myself for.. hm... still ongoing thing..

It sounds digital, but single fx seems to be better and their fxs on the amps seem to be good.

So I returned it (podxt live) and got the Boss GT8 (its only more expensive by about $60 CAD)

I don't like the amp modelling too much, but I like the distortions

On the other hand I think the Podxt live had bit of an edge lead on clean sounds (chorus, delay, acoustic, etc)

just get a decent size amp with a good EQ and a distortion pedal

I tried that myself.. is it possible to get a "good" EQ under $100?? If so, can you guide me?

seriously.. I want 1.. preferably not from eBay... :D

  10. I'm planing to put the BillLawrence L500XL on bridge for a Kelly but wondered what was a good match on the neck?

So I did the search first and got..

Someone suggested Duncan 59' and also Pearly Gates

But someone also pointed that they aren't as good match as EMG81/85 because of the differences in output

So I want something fairly versatile yet good amount of output too..

And of course, I like metal, in general.

How about the L500L? Or I guess L500XL would match the output on the bridge too (not such a good idea eh?), but I've never even seen or heard this pickup other than through Pantera's old albums where Dime used it. (Many say its dimebucker but "better" not sure how "better" though..) So how versatile would this be?

    Any suggestions??

    Thx in advance.

  11. Hm, personally, I'm still young, but you should check out some BBKing stuff

I see his videos from time to time..

His playing style (his fingers) are VERY stiff compared to modern day rockers such as Vai, Satriani, it doesn't even have to be a legend.

He sounds Great, very musical, he can also play moderately fast, and a Legend, although he says he's not that good with it and if he's any good it's because of his experiences with the 30s 40s 50s jazz legends, opportunities to play with them and so on.

To me, he proves that you don't need all those techniques to be a great musician, but your vocab of notes and a soul-full of emotion.

You can check some of his stuff through YouTube and search for it.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend John Petrucci's Rock Discipline

This video/dvd/movie w/e is all about training your fingers. Includes stretches, coordination, and alternate (also sweep) picking mostly.

TIP: As we live on the world of information highway called "internet", there isn't anything we can't get through it (for free). :D
