1. ive been thinking about it, and ive sort of realized, if you dont listen to it a lot, and loud, then you wont like it. you sort of have to listen to it very in depth, and most importantly loud, to like it. also, they are really good live, ive seen a ton of videos and i really like it.

It's true.. but there is a gradient factor to it too. I started out listening to Alexisonfire (they're actually classified as "hardcore") and got more into emo (CTTS, Quicksand, etc) and some other heavier stuff. I realize now that there are certain types of people who listen to these music.. In general case, if you see someone listening to a preferably minority music, its because there's connection.. Can't really define them, but to start off.. emo means.. 'emotional hardcore'.. so lots of emotional and many political statements which would definitely connect to many teenagers.. to give an example.

and you shouldnt call a type of music garbage.. should respect it unless it somehow comes in conflict within your spiritual beliefs/morals. then I'd understand.. I mean I dont like the music that comes from my background.. (korea) but not to say I hate it, cuz it's a culture.

2. thier not good. they just move around alot. angus could kill these guys.

I dunno.. I mean AngusYoung was a founder.. but in the long run he does get surpassed even in his own styles.. Lots of guys these days do.. but Vai and Satriani, i think it'll be a while before somebody surpasses THEM in their styles..

yeah, theyre an openly christian band same with norma jean, the chariot, and as cities burn. its cool to find such fun music with such good values at the same time eh?

Agreed. :D

Didnt knowabout as cities burn or norma jean. think i heard of the chariot.

I almost gave up trying to find some christian stuff in "secular" music after listening to switchfoot..

*sigh* those were my music depression days... :D

3. Holy shmokes.. wow..

K.. one thing that's REALLy confusing to me looking at the pics.

First he uses his template on the walnut, but if you can see, the top and bottom parts aren't perfectly round.

And this picture goes for a while.. (doo do da da doo do~~~~)

...and... AFTER the clamp, the guitar's perfectly round..

MAGIC? I think not...

EXPLAIN YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!! *yells at the dragonfly

---> in another words.. can anybody else explain this..?? :D

-IR :D

Edit: hah.. silly me kk i got it. thx

4. I don't know if you have seen a Kelly? Because the one on that pic is way out of proportion and shape! My guess is that it is freehanded. I did mine from a drawing and it turned out a few mm apart from a real one (just checked at a local music store here! The owner liked mine better than Jacksons!) Here is a pic of it.

Now that you mention it. Yea... It does look off suregork.

I thought it was just the back.. but...

and cool. I remember seeing that Kelly in one of the GOTM contests I think.

Looks sweet.

And oh, the lower horn shouldnt be that pointy. The top curve should be bit pointier inwards.

And overall it looks really big.. maybe its an illusion.

5. Aha.. Good source for tabs.. but.. bad timing. :D

They're having legal issues.. so it's "temporarily down"

I used to use Mxtabs.. but that's gone too.. There Are lots of tab sites.. just lots of inaccurate ones.. so I google mine these days.. (but techniques good website for techniques and stuff..)

My guess is.. powertab will be down at least for few months..

check this faq out.

6. aw man.

Man.. living in Toronto.. the urban... none of my friends are into guitars..

So I have to look these up for myself..

and yea.. the double neck

Here ya go Link

It's a bad quality.. I know.. but youtube has everything.. and it was my last resort.. :D

and fine! This is for those who haven't SEEN/HEARD about Justin King! :D

7. the infamous.. For the love of God.. seems to me like THE easiest one he plays.

yea i know B) but relatively easy.. and overall I don't think there's almost no song anyone can fully play..

psw, I love your lecture. Makes it so clear.

I have a poster on my room with ALL the modes/scales shown on the fretboard..

I should study how those lydian, mixolydian, etc all work :D

I always hear people say if you think too much about modes, you get lost in making music, which is true, but like psw said, its important and you need the basics.. (including myself :D )

Hmm for Satch

I'd recommend

Starry Night

Always With Me, Always With You

Top Gun Theme (I find this song very fun and the solo is relatively easy)

Crush of Love

8. (massive edit)

It's quite simpler than you think.

He rings out an artificial harmonic on an open string (i.e. 6th - e)

While his right hand is partially over the trem bar its not pushing the bar, his left hand is anchored on the lower cutaway of his guitar and with his fingers he pushes the trem bar.

He controls his sound (notes) with his trem bar and often pushes/release/pushes/release pattern..

BUT before you try doing this.. if you plan to. You have to master the Dive Bombs, which is MUCH easier relative to this.. don't know what its called..

The Dive Bomb is when he rings out either Artificial or Natural and Pushes the Bar, giving the "diving" sound as the note goes lower, and sometimes the "scoop" if he bring the trem bar back up.

Not to say I CAN do that 2 hand complex whatever-he-calls-thing.. I just know how.. :D

If there's any Satch fan out there. I recommend the "Cool #9 from G3 Live with Eric Johnson" 1997 i believe.. the original version isn't as funky as this.

GO NUTS! :D

9. Oh my GOSH :D

you're trying to play Steve Vai..

I mean.. that's not Impossible.. but DUDE... thats CRAZY

but then again, i'll chill.. (take a breather).. its not like you're trying to BE vai..

umm off my head..

the infamous.. For the love of God.. seems to me like THE easiest one he plays.

the Attitude song.. sorta

Bad Horsie.. Too Vai..

Animal..

i dunno too much about vai.. or as much as i know Satriani :D

Maybe you'd like to play Joe Sat.'s music? It's kinda similar in a sense...

but I don't get how you're gonna play Vai's stuff without tremolo.. So many harmonic dives, lifts, trem bends..

10. hmm.. looking at the color and the headstock shape.. it looks old.. but good condition.

I'm almost positive its discontinued..

And Samick guitars are hard to find.. unless you live somewhere in Asia.

I've seen many Samick guitars.. but that Jackson like headstock is totally new.

Oh yea.. sry to disappoint you but you may be lucked out..

Plus Samick guitars are merged with Greg Bennett designs.. I'm pretty sure G.Bennett basically bought them.. but not too sure..

Trying to help ya out.. but best I can do is to guess its from around 1990.

11. There ARE only portion of guitars of all the guitars out there that are actually symmetrical.

It's just so wierd.. looking at symmetrical guitars.. I wanna just shave a part off if I see one...

Majorly I think it's because when you're playing the guitar.. the guitar isnt parallel to the floor, ur left (if ur a lefty, the right) hand on the fingerboard is always AT LEAST a little bit up than ur other hand..

I think that's why most guitars, having longer horns on the top, look more.. balanced in that position.

My theory. :D

Oooo I remember THIS one from GuitarWorld zine.

The FIRST ACT CUSTOM "BABY-DELIA"

baby_delia.gif

It's really neat.. and it's symmetrical. but not a full scale.. semi-hollow.. maybe thats why i like it even though it's symmetrical.. cuz its peculiar..

But to say that this was $3200... :D

12. WHY... why.. w h y... I think tarnished gold hardware looks sexy.

In fact, some people sometimes give them a paint effect to make it look 'relic'. (e.g. SRV's FirstWife)

I think it looks classy.. I have a LesPaul with gold hardware and I'm basically WAITING for time to pass so it can be tarnished...

You know.. if you know lots of guitar hobbiests around your area, you might even just be able to trade it for a new one.. Or I'm just wierd. :D

By the way.. I don't think I would recommend you buying a single plate Online.. as shipping charges might be even more than you're paying for the actual item...

13. I've asked the same question earlier about 2 weeks ago.

Link

I'm personally going for Floyd Rose (they're easier to get than Ibanez Edges)

And install locking tuners and put that measily $4 stuff on the nut.

I think it may be too difficult a task if you have NO experience with wood since you will have to route your strat.

I'm trying to finish mine before my reading week.. which is 2-3 weeks from now but I still dont have a tremolo unit... :D its the $$$

but arent they so sexiful... :D

Good Luck with yours.

14. In those price ranges, personally, nothing beats Line6 POD in tones.
I have a Behringer amp but to me it's just watts. I never use its fx because it is lame..
I tried some Behringer pedals, not alot, but I didn't like the sounds too much too... 'cheesy'
Of course it's an inexpensive multi fx so it may sound a bit artificial, but POD's do a much better job
Their amps and fx are one of the best and ppl may say it's 'digital' but in a blind test, it's impossible to guess what's what.
Personally I have the GT8 and some other boss single pedals
As far as durability goes, Behringer generally makes a solid, working products. Durable.

ALSO the important thing is your Amp and Guitar. Obviously different combinations give a different style/tone/etc.

I also tried Korg too. First I was very surprised to see how much you can do.. or it says you can do.
But maybe it was because nobody was helping me out how to use it, but the presets seemed very limited..
I mean.. those presets are there to basically impress you or Korg is trying to tell the consumers THIS is what it can do..

You should try those new Behringer single fx pedals line that were in the NAMM show.. wait.. are they out yet?

P.S. for wah. I tried Tonelab, GT8, PODxt live, Korg, Boss ME-5.. pretty much most of the multifx board in that price range. Never got what I wanted, but GT8 has a good bite and Tonelab has a good ring to it.. but overall I think wah pedals are s'pose to be on their own. Zakk Wylde's wah is pretty cool.. may not be practical.. but that head-ripping sound... makes me think of a butter getting sliced by a iron thread...

ANYWHO... don't forget to research too.. like Harmony-Central a.k.a. The Land of the 10's. but some are pretty accurate in my opinion.

ciao :D
