  1. Is the top carved?

Also, can you give us some specs? What kind of top/body/neck/fretboard/pickups/bolton-set-neckthru

Also, the fretless part, do you intend to play/experiment with it alot?

If so, why did you make the neck heel so long?

Meh, I'm just a little confused with the practical assets of the guitar. :D

I really love the uniqueness though. It's.. sWELL :D

  2. All those hardware/pickups/stuff you put in... outweighes the guitar quality... waayyyy too much.

I mean.. I don't know about you.. but I have a Turser, but it's just appealing and "good" (for its price), but I would say, it's not worth all those efforts.. IMHO.

Money wise too.. But I guess it's too late to stop you :D

    + It's a bolt on neck right?

how did you paint it mirror?

    +1

How did u paint it rock mirror?

I'd love to see the pics!

  3. Do you have an exact picture or mental picture at least, or how the guitar is going to look like?

I like the EVH, but I still think that's too gradual. It looks like someone spilled some acids and washed that spot away. As in, the edges/lines on the paint seems too steep to look like a 'wear'. I guess blending in is the key.

Keep up the good work! And Good luck!

  4. Watch "Rock Discipline" by Petrucci.

It's as basic as it gets to doing any kind of virtuosos.

I own a couple a vids, MartyFriedman's, Petrucci's, Paul Gilbers, Some YngwieMalmsteen.. (his is pretty crap.. he's too much of a showoff to be a teacher.), ZakkWylde (great pentatonic stuff, but nothing more), Don Mock, Victor Wooten (I'm not a bass player, but it's interesting to watch, mix of bio/discography and his "thumb-techniques"), also have Joe Pass for some jazz, and lots of concert vids that I missed out back in the days because I was too in to rap, and some concerts that I missed because they just don't have them in Canada.. or near my range. (i.e. G3 2005)

But I found "Rock Discipline" the most helpful.

Of course there's more than just listening/watching lesson vids, but most likely all the basic techniques are there and it's suppose to help you get on your ways. your "unique" ways, that is.

  5. Cool LP doublecut

I like the flow of this guitar, especially the back. The stripe runs through the entire guitar. (Kinda like the TangTop by gareman(sp?))

I'm curious to what kind of fretboard you're using.

Also, do you actually use the middle pickup? Or is that more of a cosmetic thing?

  6. The no-name ones ARE "licensed". Original will say, "Original" on them. There's nothing wrong with a licensed product, though-- it's just that they can be in ANY range of quality. Some will be better than an OFR, and some will be noticeably worse.

    Greg

Sometimes you'll even find Gotoh or Schaller Floyd Roses better than the OFR.

They're certain at the high ends.

  7. This project is on the backburner for a week or two more. I'm a little short on money to get the rest of the supplies but am interviewing tomorrow for a job that pays $30/hr., so hopefully that won't stay the case for very long. :D

wOH! You started your project without have your supplies? So you're missing some hardware, electronics.. finishing supplies...

    Very.. risky..

And good luck for the interview. $30. Yumm.

  8. There is no 'standard'. I'm guessing that's what you're looking for.

Such as.. Carvin neck-through is parallel, and the width is the same as the end of the fretboard.

Then, there are also other guitars that simply follow the the direction of the fingerboard and zooms out like a cone. Can't find any pic for now.

It really doesn't matter as long as the neck is between the 2 bodies and fit well. It's like asking how pink is too red??

  9. No it won't work.. the intonations will be out of place.. it just won't work.

    Link

Here's a topic that someone asked the same thing you're asking, but with different numbers.

Knowing that you really don't know how scales/frets/intonation work, I wouldn't suggest doing anything to the neck or the guitar for that matter.

There are conversion necks available from Warmoth.

P.S. Use the search forum, there's a great depth of information and knowledge in here. It won't bite. I promise.

  10. What did you replace it with?

I replaced it with a JayTurser guitar

If you're interested I got the JT200 VINEQMT

It's a LesPaul knockoff, but for the money I paid I'm pretty happy.

I got it for about $300, it's originally $500CAD but it had a blemish,

There was a bump on the neck, which I sanded it out and now almost nobody can see/feel it.

And I got it from music123.com

I wanted to get something used from eBay, but my 'rents didn't let me set up an eBay account. haha

Oh and the guitar's Chinese made... I regret that I should've got the Ibanez Iceman400

I find the pickups can sound a little 'twangy' but maybe thats because all my others instruments have humbuckers?

Most of the 'twang' sound of strat/teles come from their 25.5" scale. The pickups do make it accentuate, but even if you had humbuckers, it will still sound 'twangy'.
