  1. Hello, all! Thanks for the support. I will look too see if I can fit a top over the wood but I will have to wait until payday to get it. In the meantime, I have glued the wood for the next body together and the wood for the neck and fretboard have come in. I will start working on the neck next. I will try to post pics as soon as I have something to report. Thanks again!
  2. Hello, everyone! Thank you all for your help! Just a quick update. I tried using the router sled as @Bizman62 suggested. I routed the back side perfectly, it looked great. I then flipped it and started working on the other side.. After about a quarter of the way through, I didn't see the edge of my sled fall off my workbench. When that happened, the router ripped about 2/3 into the body and threw the body forward. The slab seems mostly ruined now. Luckily, the wood I bought was enough for two bodies. Time to start over. :-) Once again, thank you all for your help!
  3. Thank you all for you help! I will try both the router and the rasps/micro planes and update you with the results. It probably won't happen until the weekend though. I work too dang much. Thank you again!
  4. Hello, everyone! I am working on my first build and need some advice. I am building a solid body out of poplar. I have cut, joined, glued and cut the basic shape out. Due to my lack of skills, I have made a couple of mistakes and would love some advice on how to repair them. First mistake, when cutting the shape of the body with the bandsaw, I left some huge jagged marks around the curves. How would I go about shaping these areas smooth? I have a template that I could use to route around the body but my lack of cutting skills made the body slightly narrower than that template. Second mistake, I tried to run the guitar through my thickness planer, I didn't realize it but the body of the guitar is slightly wider than my planner. The body got stuck in my thickness planer and left a large snipe in the back of the body. How would you address this issue? I'm assuming that I will have to hand plane it? Not great for someone with a spine injury. I have linked a few pictures for your reference. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you all!
