  1. Ok guys, yesterday I just happened to have been at a place that carried Krylon rattle can paint. I bought one can of black, and a can of the "satin" overcoat. Is it a bad idea to use the rattle can as opposed to the automotive paint? I have access to both, and with every car-related thing I've done - rattle can just has not performed like I had hoped. This is part of the reason I only bought one can of it. The other being - I don't know how many to buy anyways. :D I was just wondering if this would turn out good with what I have just bought, or should I just slap the car paint on it, and use the satin clear on it?

  2. I was wondering how hard it would be? I finally found THE guitar I have been looking for, but I also know that I have been on a "witch hunt" for a short scale bass lately to add some variety to my bass closet. I was wondering what do I need to do to accomplish this? Do I need to search for a short scale neck and try to slap it on, and be done with it? Or what needs to be done, this would be an awesome set up if it could work.

  3. I was just wondering whatever happened to that old website "Used Gear By Mail"? They had some nice stuff for nice prices, and itwas really convienent. They were a branch off of "Daddy's Junky Music" I believe, and had the best service I'd been around - a friend ordered 2 guitars off of there, and was more than pleased both times. I was just wondering if this place or one just like it existed now?

  4. There is some kinda big thing going on Halloween night locally here with bands from what I understand, and I think we may be part of it, although they haven't asked us or any other bands I know of any questions yet.

Anyway, I guess I kinda am decorating for halloween then? lol I need some skull tuning keys, knobs, and I'd like to have a new bridge possibly - the bridge can definitely wait tho, it plays nice as is.

    ThanX guys...

  5. Wow thanks guys, and I must say that the blue warlock up there is really an awesome job... I'd definitly have been satisfied with something like that as my finished product... I ain't all that picky. :D

So as you (Brian) say just use a flat clear- what color should I use under that? Because the Gibson gothic series isn't a deep black satin, it's a more black with a gun metal gray tint with the flat clear coat over it... Or is it just a normal black that looks different under the flat clear coat?

  6. This is my first post here, although I lurked for a while -

Yeah, as the topic says, I am refinishing my Warlock bass guitar, and eventually going to restore it completely... It's currently finished in a bright red color, which has a good bit of little scratched over it... But all that is going to change. This is my first time to consider such a feat really, and I came here for moral support, and to ask some questions.

I am in the autobody and repair biz on the side, and we do little stuff for people, and it goest without a hitch... How different from auto work is this guitar painting?

Also, I was wanting to go with something a little radical at first, but I think maybe I shouldn't try to go big my first time out. So I thought it over, and I like the satin black finish that I've seen on some guitars - (ex - Epiphone Gothic series). I think that I may end up doing that on this one to keep it kind of simple.

I have a small fracture, (maybe just in the finish) on one of the bottom sides of the bass, how do I go about repairing this so that it won't be noticeable and won't interfere with my refinishing project?

I am seriously considering ordering 2 more basses, (if all goes well) in the next week or so... So I am excited right now to say the least.

I put this into the knowlegeable people's hands who are pros at what the do... :D
